£140 for a "different" remote control? - sounds a bit steep to me!

I thought it might. Yes I filled it out correctly to the same model you did and I got this reply;

Dear Mr xxxxxxx,

Thank you for your enquiry.

In order to apply a price reduction on a purchase, the criteria in our pricing policy must be met. I regret that after review the request you have submitted does not match all or parts of this policy.

We match prices publicly available to all customers, based on those displayed in a shop, on the high street competitor's own website, or the first price quoted to us over the phone. The price has to apply to an identical individual product in terms of make, model, size or colour. This approach ensures consistency for all our customers and ensures the policy is transparent.

Electrical Experience are selling a different model TV, that comes with a different remote.

Therefore, on this occasion I am sorry I cannot match the price offered by Electrical Experience. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website.

I am sorry I have not been able to reduce the price on this occasion. If you require any further information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

What's wrong with John Lewis?

samsung are now the market leaders in led and lcd screen. sony just sold out their share to samsung as they are struggling financially.

Go panasonic, plasma all the way for me.

It's a personal thing but I find LCD pictures too cold and harsh. Also I got a Samsung S3 phone and I hated, awful product nd kind of put me off the Samsung brand. Also had a samsung plasma go faulty on me in the past.

This TV being 720P will ultimately have a lower resolution the that of a 1080P, yes you can sit further away and they will look the same, but all you are doing is making the image small by moving away, and then what is the point in a big TV. I suggest get a 2D 1080P TV without 3D if you can not afford a 1080P 3D TV.

Note that this will also be a cheep component TV. Stay well away.

Have the 51" version. Cracking tv for price and 3d effect stronger than cinema. Esp through 3D player. Decent speakers too. Recommended on hdtvtest. Pick up glasses around £25 each.

drunken_prozac

can you explain?

1080i has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 so it 1080i doesn't fit on a 720 screen. The only way for 1080i/1080p to fit on a 720 screen is to downscale the resolution.

shawty1984

That's still wrong anyway.

can you explain?
my understanding is that it has 1080 lines but cannot display all of them at the same time (as that is progressive and redraws the whole image at a time) so it interlaces them, thus a 720 pixel size image is displayed then the following image is displayed on the alternate lines, this means only 720 pixels are in use at one time for each frame?

Got my TV today, bought it for the same price at RicherSounds. Excellent TV so far.

Did anyone buy one of these?

Any reviews on thisTV?

Price is now £729 and says:

Availability: Week Commencing 1st October!!!
Delivery: Free*
Colour: Black

I think its probably best to avoid this retailer in the future.rgbdirect have the Tv for £799.

Deal needs expiring. Ordered the set last night, but was called today to be told the model had been discontinued and there was no stock available (which seems bizarre, as I thought it was this year's model). The model has been removed from the site.

Have also just had the sales assistant from Electrical Experience trying to flog me an HD-ready set in place of this one that would magically "be full HD if you feed it with a full HD source". Erm, no.

UPDATE: 15 October

To be fair to Electrical Experience, after sending an email to them explaining what had happened I was offered the set at the original price of £699. It's taken a couple of weeks to come into stock, but it was delivered on Friday and is a great TV at a great price, and in the end the service offered was very good too!

Anyone know how bad image retention is on this set?

I have the model without the 3d and the picture is fantastic, but to get the best out of it you must have HD and sit at least 3m away.Imo the blacks will be better than the lcd tvs but they are catching up.All my small lcds have at best dark greys as black and alot of back light leakage giving them a cloudy look but you dont get this with a plasma.Only down sides to this tv is the running cost which on my electric usage monitor shows as between 200w & 400w,it only goes up to 400w when the screen is totaly white which is the only other thing is that on bright scenes which are nearly white you can here the screen buzzing if the sound is low.

This is good priced quiet 3D player that comploments any smart 3D TV as you usually don't need smart functions on both.

It looks better than photo in r/l is quite slim and plays all my recorded BD's that the Sharp DB-HP25S didn't, It can also be made muti-region with a fimware change.

If you don't need smart function it seems to be fine.
