Denon AVRX3500H 7.2 channel AV Receiver / Atmos + Free Express Delivery £549 @ electricshop - [2 Years Manufacturers Warranty]

Try bumping the rears by 1dB and the sub by 3dB, then turn Dynamic EQ off.

I just wanted to update my previous comments, the latest firmware has resolved the lip sync issues. I also re-ran the Audyssey tuning using my iPad and it sounds a lot better with Dynamic EQ on. I really recommend this AVR now.

Depends on the speakers but I hear a difference between 1xxx 2xxx 3xxx in Stereo.

The base entry Denon is the 250bt at £150 so a £300 difference. No it's unlikely you'd notice much difference for 2.0 music. If you want something that is good at both then you'll need to spend on something from Marantz.

Compared to the base entry Denon that's £200 Think il notice much difference between the two for stereo music ?

Let's understand the manufacturing cost - if it's 50p then I also agree (y)

They've matured a lot XD

Yeah, any company that makes scams like this: https://www.cnet.com/news/denons-500-ethernet-cable/ Doesn't deserve a penny. Snake oil.

How much did you spend and which speakers?

I highly rate Denon receivers, however at that price range you should be looking for a 7 speaker solution and personally a receiver with 9ch output for Atmos, either 7.1.2 or 5.1.4. I was able to get a X4300h a year ago for £749 + speakers, so it can be done and previous year Denon receivers do get discounted very well

Where did you find the N950 for 799 thats crazy cheap

Awesome. Now if only I didn't live on the streets.

All the hassle is worth it.

Every year I say I am going to upgrade the AV set up. I am still running a technics Amp. I don’t see the point replacing it unless I go Dolby ATMOS route. What is putting me off taking the plunge, is the messing about setting up a 5.1/7.1 system, hiding all the cabling etc. For a true Dolby ATMOS experience speakers have to be specifically placed around the living room. Behind you etc. Why so many people just go for the soundbars. Heat added, good price for that set up. (PS. Don’t forget to buy a mile worth of speaker cabling :D )

Thanks guys dually noted all comments (y)

Sony is best for HQ audio...... Noob.

Thanks! My living room nowhere near even 200sqft. Maybe 120sqft. AVRs are one of those items that I’m surprised haven’t shrunk more over the years like everything else. Wonder if they ever will?

100% fine for 200-250 sqfeet room, you need full volume for 400 sqfeet. I like the performance from 50 -75 % volume. Above that slight distraction in voice and bass. This is my opinion, others maybe different. But Sony is best for HQ audio. This is nearly equal to Sony.

I bought this for £349 a couple of months ago. Very pleased with it and I'm using it in a fairly large room with a vaulted ceiling.

I agree. Got the 1506 and it's great. Only issue is the on screen text is all messed up for some reason. Tried factory resets and updates and can't fix it.

I have this picked it up in black when it was £99 from currys last summer. Great sound although I cannot get HDMI passthrough to work with my Sony 55X8509C at all.

It’s a good price for these and Yamaha audio products are quality, however these look really bad under a TV imo

Will it work with chromecast?

Yes it will. I have an RN602 Amp/receiver in the extension and one of these in the front room. You can link the two devices via the musicast app.

Loads of soundbars don't seem to support it, even some of the expensive systems only support standard Dolby Digital which is DVD quality. Seems crazy how we have 4k Ultra HD and yet audio quality keeps going backwards.

I'd rather stick with a well known brand with a good reputation, like Onkyo.

The way I read it. It has a built in Alexa compatible functionality, a bit like say a smart plug. The dot is to actually give you Alexa to use with it. So doesn’t need plugged in but does give you voice control.

Sorry i meant that rhe receiver has alexa built in i believe. I assume You need the dot to male alexa work???

Amazon is probably sponsoring it as a freebie. Gives the retailer the ability to say it supports streaming while amazon try’s to get a new subscriber.

Don't see the point of the dot

Only real notable difference is the x2500 has a phono stage for a turntable. I opted for the x2400 when deciding. That was a few months ago however when the x2500 was just out and the x2400 was still in stock everywhere, so better deals. Got RS to beat Peter Tyson with a Q Acoustics 3050 cinema pack for £970. Phenomenal system for the money though I want to add Atmos speakers and second sub... What HiFi is a joke. They argue there's a difference in expensive HDMI cable image quality, if the manufacturer pays them enough!

I had the same on an Onkyo amp a few years ago. Faulty caps on the hdmi board. Got a mate who was a Dab hand at intricate soldering to replace them. Sold it on to a work colleague who is still using it now! I only buy my AV gear from richer sounds though now. Their 6yr supacare is gold standard warranty. Brilliant. Took a 2yr old Panasonic Blu-ray player with a faulty disc door back, they swapped it for newer current model that was multiregion and bundled with a 3 disc 3d blu ray pack.

Yeh I am disappointed that my PS4 Pros do not play 4K blu rays - total rip off imo.

v tempted - it has 'Change the display name for input source.' my Onkyo NR414 on lets me use the preset ones

I think I may actually give that a go on my “sofa” (y) 🏽

Wonder if this is a good 4K upgrade from a Sony DA2400ES or if I should go for the 1080

Late night setting this up, pulled out an old Yamaha dsp-e800 and Cambridge Audio A1 that I've had forever. What a step up, been watching Atmos demos all evening. The Mrs wasn't that impressed though, but she did appreciate the reduced clutter.

If I buy this and the heos sound bar, sub and hs2 speakers, can I connect them to avr wire free?

Unknown brand

It's an old hukd meme when onkyo is mentioned, someone called Loughboroughguy said something similar to Dudleyguy in innocent seriousness and the thread went wild.

Seems like it is you that knows nothing about premium audio. Onkyo is Japanese and is the same company as Pioneer. Very much on a level with Denon who are the same company as Marantz. There is little or nothing to choose between them in terms of quality. A cheap Chinese brand they are not, but the Chinese now make some of the best premium audio in the world. Oppo (a Chinese company) made the best rated Bluray players, headphones etc. and have only just announced that they will stop making premium audio.

Looks like a upgrade on my av amp soon, but have managed to get hdr, and dolby via my onkyo 626, using direct link for audio and my lg 4k tv.

Got mine with the denon sys2020 speakers from RS for £489

Yes I'm afraid the amp needs to support it. Unless your TV supports it and your blu ray player has twin hdmi ports, one to feed your sound to any AV reciever and one direct to tv.

I got one a couple of weeks ago to replace my 5 year old Sony amp. The sound this amp produces is fantastic, crystal clear sound. Highly recommend this.

Do you need a HDR amp to view this format, surely any AV amp should allow this?

Yeah, telling people not to vote is a sure fire way to get cold votes.

You'd maybe get more heat by putting how much it is reduced by rather than telling people not to vote cold if they don't know what it is

Thanks. I know. For anyone in the market for 11 channels like I have been for 2.5 years this is a very good price point for a very good piece of kit. If people can't see that they should not be voting. But I do hope it helps someone.

That didn't last long - they're up to £315 now!

Not sure. They are for different purposes really. The 2000s are just speakers. So if you only need a pair of stereo speakers, then you would consider those. The BT3 is different in that it is powered and has a built in amp and it's own inputs. They have 2 line ins and an optical in. Sonically, I imagine they are comparable - they both get 5 stars from What HiFi.

How do they compare to 2010i/2020i?
