£20 price drop on this 34 inch 3440x1440 monitor from Laptops Direct. Granted it's an unknown brand but at this price for this size and resolution I think it's a good deal. Mixed reviews online though it seems like changing the included Displayport cable for something better fixes things for a lot of people. Only a 1 year warranty so that may put some people off. The panel uses PVA technology and is made by Samsung. Please voice your thoughts below!

Also worth noting:
- £10 off this price with a £1 trial of Which
- Refurbished units from £254.97

Not really an 'unknown brand'. They have been around for a while now. Plenty review available. I bought their 4K 31" and am very happy with it for the price.

Is this brand good?
It has VESA but refresh is 60hz. Good enough for most people but the pros will make it cold cos its not higher. I already have an uhd screen. My hardware can't handle that resolution so it's a no for me but good find OP. Have some. Heat
Looks great on paper, but the consumer reviews I've read show significant problems with quality control IIRC. I've been tempted by this before, but I'm going to hold onto my LG 34UC79g even though it's only 2560x1080 because I love that 144hz goodness, and if I'm buying a high end monitor like anything 3440x1440, then I'm going to spend a little more on quality.

This is a bit of a gamble in my eyes, but if it pays off at this price (in terms of quality) then great!
There is or was a dedicated thread over on the OCUK forums, generally positive feedback but that was when it could be had for £214 or there abouts.
Hi I have this on it now £220 from hotukdeals ebay very happy temped to go for this for a second one

VESA is a standard body responsible for many of the standards involved in monitors, including holes for mounting, variable refresh rate and DisplayPort.

This is is only 5 megapixels rather than 8 like a 3840x2160 screen, so substantially easier to run for things like games.

Bought one and QC was junk, panel had pink discolouration on an all white screen on both sides. Horrible VA black crush too.

Sent it back.

Does FreeSync really matter when it's only 60hz?
Looks like this is 21:9 too? Really good price for a 34" ultrawide

That’s where it matters most. Over 120hz tearing is less noticeable.
I bought this monitor a few weeks ago, the panel comfortably overclocks to 100Hz, if you up the digital vibrance (in your graphics software) you get a lot more colour out of the panel too compared to the monitor's settings. I absolutely love mine and think it's a steal under £400, let alone £280
Any good for x box one x?

No, the resolution is all wrong, go buy a 1080p or true 4K panel

I managed to push mine all the way up to 112Hz

Pros won’t vote cold unless stupid. I paid £1000 for my 34” Asus with the same resolution and the only different being 100Hz.
I’m going to buy this as I need another big monitor and the referees rate for it is not as important.
Non IPS is deal breaker...
Heard iffy reviews, only due to the chance of a dud panel and on screen artifacts being an intermittent issue.

I would take a punt, but thought I saw this at £219.99 a few months ago on here? (possibly before christmas?)

Very tempted but not sure if I can go from 4K to 1440p just for ultrawide.
I brought 4 of them a few months back for a project. All 4 of them had a flicker (see video) and they have been sent back to have a firmware update done (still waiting for them to be returned from sending them last week). Other than that the resolution and size is great for productivity. The brightness is a little low but very usable. I wouldn't recommend them for gaming (especially PES or FIFA) and there is a noticeable pixel lag when there is a fast movement which gives objects a purple shadow.

Bargain for the specs

Thanks for the info.
Ordered one of these a month ago. Came with a defect which was pain getting it returned. cold from me
I got one at £220 and it's worth that for the real eatate it gives, but not the best viewing angles / colours / back light evenness (especially at side edges).

If you want a big, good resolution monitor that does the job, this is good value. If you want a better picture, I'd suggest paying a bit more.
