Okay - here goes...

We’re after a new tv following an altercation involving my 2 year old and our previous 60” tv (anyone involved in the ‘shropshire rocks’ phenomenon will be able to fill in the blanks...)

Having read various tv deals on this site and read all the comments I *THINK* this isnt the worst deal out there.

I’m aware you can save ‘a couple of quid’ using sites elsewhere - but i’d prefer to buy from debenhams for ease of any potential return.

Any thoughts on this panel?

I await your scathing judgement.

Honestly? Spend that money on a decent 50" and move your sofa closer

While it’s completely up to yourself, my advice would be not to waste your money on this. For not much more, you could buy a very good Hisense. I would also try and get a TV with 5 years warranty. Check Avforums for some excellent tv reviews.

Its a Vestel so I would consider ALL other options before pulling the trigger. Personally I would avoid seeing as it only has a 12 month warranty, an extended warranty is a must with a Vestel TV otherwise you're asking for trouble when it undoubtedly fails 18 months down the line. Seems like you've missed all the AO Hisense offers unfortunately.

Yeah i was looking at the hisense... but then you read people slating them.

Essentially... i want to spend ‘about a grand’ on a tv. 60” minimum.

The search goes on...

Like I said, check Avforums my friend. One of
The best sources of info out there. They know what they’re saying unlike some reviewers who review HDMI cables😏

You need to wait a few weeks or get one covered by a price match guarantee prices start going down in November and get to their best price in the two weeks around black frida

i wouldn't spend that much on an unknown brand. this looks suspiciously like the "WAS" price so when it's on sale at £499.99 in the black Tuesday sales in a few weeks, it looks like a great bargain. for near that money you should be able to get a known brand 4k 65". have a look at richer sounds for a start, then the obvious currys etc

People slate HiSense because they are unashamebly a Chinese company, so it is automatically assumed to be tat. As I have said before, they are one of the leading brands in electronics inside China, so their stuff cannot be that bad.
ElectriQ, on the other hand, have a dire reputation for poor quality and terrible reliability.

OK, lot of mis-info on here regarding these, so ( as someone who bought the 65" Techwood deal at AO in Nov 2016 for £539 ) here are some truths rather than speculation, and its truth as i know it/experienced it so yes i may not be 100% right in some peoples eyes but i have LIVED with this TV for nearly a year so here goes...
Yes its made by Vestel ( who also make a lot of other "names" from our past, AKAI, JVC, ElectriQ, etc etc ) in Turkey no less, however the build quality is fine and it performs well. Screen quality is good , connection wise its decent and the inbuilt "Smart" software may need an update as mine didn't work out of the box, however its a simple update procedure and all works fine after that.
Over the last year this set ( remember mine was a Techwood but they're pretty much all the same just different badge ) has performed without issue, never tripped up once, however i have also looked at Hisense ones and they appear to be better than my Techwood in terms of HDR and 4k performance, for the money being asked this set is a good deal, id risk it because the "Major" players just aint worth the extra cash for what you get and , hey hop, ANY set can go pop after 12 months, just me 2 pennies worth!
