doubt it that would be around 7 years on non stop, most tv's dont even last that long.

Cheap(ish), not great, may suit some (that's called balance!).

had this tv for a year, bought via Argos for £219. had the dreaded white screen,
, 10days out of warrenty, had to get independent repair to give note before argos will refund pro rata.would buy bush again.

Mine arrived and was dusty (in the crevices on back of tv) Switched on and just a white screen.

Hopefully they'll sort this out for me quickly.

I have this tv in my room. 3D isn't amazing but barely use it anyway. Great tv for the price would recommend

Had this TV for just under a year, its held up well, quality is great, no motion blur as some are saying, only problem is the audio which can be solved... Great budget TV, i highly recommend

I bought one of these when they were available from Argos' ebay account. Amazing value for money, the 3D is OK but you do have to sit in the sweet spot to get the best effect.
I use mine as my PC monitor and have been extremely happy with it & it's OK for gaming although perhaps I have incredibly low standards lol.

Sorry, on your original post I only saw "homeplugs" and my eyes didn't travel much further than TP-Link lol oO

I still don't rate Powerline adapters just from my own experience, but that nano-wotsit you linked to does look like good value and seems to do the same thing as the Netgear I posted. I think I'd give that a go if I hadn't already shelled out for my Netgear one

The Netgear dongle I suggested is only £30, doesn't take up two power sockets, just hangs behind the TV out of sight (and powered by one of the TV's USB ports) and can be moved to any device you want to make wireless. Homeplugs have their place (I have some) but wireless is better unless you plan on copying large amounts of data around your network. I'm also not sure TP Link's homeplugs are that good. I've had a second pair now break and refuse to connect or see each other. First time happened within two weeks of owning them, so straight back to Amazon. Second time is 18 months later ... so they're not very resilient in my experience. Great when they work though.Link here if anyone's interested in WiFi dongle for £30. Better than the £25 Argos one as it can be used on any device with an ethernet port in the future; Argos dongle will only ever work with your TV. Only about the size of a credit card and about 1cm thick. http://www.pixmania.co.uk/wifi-network-card/netgear-wnce2001-100pes-universal-wireless-n-to-ethernet-internet-adapter/06244090-a.html

If people don't believe this then pop down to your local Currys or Richer Sounds and see for yourself. If you can't see the difference from 9 ft then it probably says more about your eyesight than it does the telly!

DVD not bluray

Cheers op, been looking for something like this for a while, only thought is whether to go for its blu ray big brother mmmm. Heat added anyway

Does this play bluray films?

I have the bw720 and it is fantastic. I lost loads of films and programmes that the kids liked when my last sagem box died. The recording onto bluray is fantastic. you can get 10 or more films on a disc. Or less if they are hd. Over Christmas the box paid for itself with all the animated films that were on. I can also record whole series. The Simpson's etc. The price of this pvr is worthy of heat but I would pay more and get a bluray pvr. This is like an infinite size of hard drive. Bluray discs on the internet are dirt cheap.

But how does it compare to the Humax?

if the tv isn't as good as similar priced competitors then its not a good … if the tv isn't as good as similar priced competitors then its not a good deal..the better deal would be the better item.some people will not get that though unfortunately

I disagree with that, what you deem to be "better" may not be seen the same by somebody else which is subjective. The point surely is whether or not the posted item can be gotten for less money elsewhere, making it a good deal, if you want one or not is irrelevant.

For example if someone posted a deal for a £100k Ferrari that was £10k cheaper than anywhere else you can't say it's not a good deal because you prefer Lamborghini and because the lambo is only £95k

I think too many people make that kind of snap judgement and instantly vote something cold because they believe something else is better rather than voting on the product and price in question leading to lots of deals on here not getting the heat they probably deserve.

if the tv isn't as good as similar priced competitors then its not a good deal..the better deal would be the better item.

some people will not get that though unfortunately

Hi Laubio - well all I can say is the Sony is good and has a nice minimalist sleek look too - remember the HD audio is available on the HTAS5 providing your player (bluray player/ps3 slim etc) does the decoding - then you set to output LPCM and the HD audio comes flooding through unsullied....

The sadder thing is, I've got a what-is-now a long list of films I've been putting off watching because I was going to get a sound system and was gonna be sad and hope to enjoy it more. Literally have been mulling for a couple of months now and still not decided. Think I will go with Sony as most people seem happy with it and does cover HD and 3D audio which the yamaha doesnt. The only thing putting me off is should anything go rong or I want to upgrade one part of it, then it would be more difficult than if I had the yamaha. Oh...and the fact that im gonna have to spend £177 to get surround sound!

I had the very same dilemma, in the end I had a few amazon vouchers which helped me decide on the HTAS5 (as the seller is on Amazon).

I also have a Sony TV. In the end I decided that both systems are bottom end but with great reviews for what they are. Personally, I like the fact that the Sony does not have a separate receiver and everything is built into the sub, just less clutter which keeps the other half much happier.

haha I don't know much about the Yamaha so it may be a great deal.... I can say I am very satisfied with the Sony, what is nice (although it may be standard now) is that if my Surround sound is on standby it still passes the HDMI signal through to the TV which is good for those times you just want to use normal speakers etc... if you have a recent sony tv it syncs perfectly with that for me too which is another plus. I wonder if there is a newer model coming soon...hmmm good luck with whatever you choose Laubi, I am sure you will enjoy either of them!
