I'd be interested to get everyone's thoughts on this one. I've been looking at buying a chinese mid-high spec handset to save a bit of cash, but I'm put off by purchasing from Gearbest/Ali/Ebay etc as I've been stung in the past by counterfeit and hefty import duties.

So I'm planning to avoid the worries associated with purchasing a handset from China - this Elephone P9000 is available directly from Amazon, with next day Prime delivery and associated Amazon customer service should anything go wrong.

Opinions welcome!

Not sold by Amazon, and is just fulfilled by Amazon means you only get 30 days of Amazon warranty, post which you need to deal with the seller..

The Elephone S7 is due out any day. Looks amazing

Does this mean added protection? Or will I be out on a limb? oO

I got the phone from here and it arrived next day.
Good phone for the money, although it does a few niggles, the finger print scanner isn't great (although setting up the same finger multiple time gets around this) and gps can be a little off. But you do get a lot of phone for the price, can get it cheaper, but not the next day.

sir, iphone 7 is coming

Think for the price of these nowadays I'd take my chance on eBay for £145.99 or best offer

I cannot comment on the P9000 but have two P8000 phones and both have been good phones for the £110 they cost. Do not expect however any reasonable customer service from Elephone themselves and look to the internet for enthusiasts for help and assistance especially if it is a new model you purchase. My P8000s had numerous firmware updates, lock ups and glitches for the first few months. If you are not technically savvy then I would suggest you steer clear of chinese phones and if you do buy make sure the phone has the mobile bands you require.

It'll be covered by Amazon as they handle any warranty issues for 12 months.

Well there is always bad news. Would rather go back to pay phones than give Apple a penny.

Good luck

I bought the previous version to this the P8000 even though the phone was well built and the specs were good the software is crap for example Elephone themselves released a OTA update that was loaded with Malware, adware and Trojans even though they did release a further update that didn't have the Trojans, adware and Malware in my eyes the damage had been done and that was that. If you value your personal and banking details don't buy a Elephone product. I wouldn't buy any Elephone phone even if they were half this price.

I have the P8000 and can second the fact that's it's been ok overall, but (yes, there's always a but).
1. Encryption never worked and has never been fixed, this caused problem because it meant i could not use the phone on the works network.
2. Elephone make good value phones but are absolutely rubbish at support so unless the dev community picks it up you're never likely to see any improvements from elephone direct.
3. The P9000 is advertised with nfc but uses dev signature so never passed Google's certification which means it does not work on android pay. You'll find this info on the net if you do a bit of googling. Going by past experience I would not expect elephone to ever fix this and neither can it be fixed by the dev community since I cannot see any entity (other than OEMs) being able to pass a custom rom through google's certification. So if you need android pay, stay away, otherwise it looks like any other good value phone from elephone with all the above caveats.

Bought the P9000 and it would have been great but the sim/micro sd tray is so badly designed it wouldn't read my sim half of the time so back it had to go. Seemed an odd oversight for such a feature packed phone.

They did not rip off the Samsung s6 edge design on this one too much did they.

Looks an interesting phone.

This or the cheaper Moto G4?

Just looked on the Elephone Store if don't require fast delivery you can get the same phone for £143.75 but their is a chance of customs getting hold of it and paying a charge.

Had a p7000 for over a year now, pretty happy with it, longest I've ever owned a phone cause I can't find a phone to replace it with similar spec.
The p7000 has a 3450 mAh battery, 5.5 inch screen, dual sim and an SD card slot, most phones this size have a smaller battery and you have to choose between using the second SIM slot or the SD card.
P9000 was not the successor to the P8000, different models completely, and aimed at very different target markets.
I was tempted by the Vowney model, but they changed the camera spec before launch and the reviews were disappointing, likewise the P9000 didn't get the camera upgrade so no real advantage over the P7000.
The M3 did get the camera upgrade, but reviews are a bit thin on the ground at the moment.
Like the look of the S7 and the R9, S7 due September but knowing elephone it'll be December before it ships.
After 16 months my P7000 still works well, few ota updates early on, but stable since then. It's stuck on android 5.0 but that's because mediatek never made the source code available (elephone probably didn't pay for this) but I'm fine with that - this seems to be a p7000 specific issue.
Only gripe is that the camera has always been a disappointment, and the screen is now starting to show signs of wear.
But I am planning to change phone shortly, I may go for the elephone R9, M3 or S7, depending on specs, or if they aren't good I might try an LG V10 - but the battery is the real issue there.

I bought this last Sunday on Amazon lightning deal £150.
received it Tuesday, after 3 hrs on charge, the charger blew up. recently had work done on house so all electrics up to spec. reported to amazon, who have pulled it off their supply, but others are selling it in market place.
if you've a family, leave your phone on charge over night, buy something else, the CE mark means nothing to the Chinese, well maybe Chinese Export.
