It's not gold plated, hasn't got 512gb of storage. All reasonable expectations for the £100 phone buyer.

I've posted the wrong link but just look on the elephone official store on AliExpress and it's there, while I try and get the working link....

I can't understand in little over 12 months how this tech has got so ridiculously cheap.

Pop up cameras used to carry a premium, look at the vivo NEX for example, now they don't have to
I have bought 4 phones in the last month, 😬 mostly at the 50-60 mark / a redmi 8t currently stuck in customs from eglobal. I can't justify getting this because I didn't need the ones I got, I just like cheap tech, but my god is it tempting to get a pop up phone at that price...

You're sick buying all those.
This will go nicely with my mi max 3, redmi note 8 pro and p30 pro.
shame the camrea isnt triggered by a button (like the Nokia 8110 phone slider was ). Would feel even cooler lol.
the CPU isn't snapdragon
the touch screen isn't amoled
no 5G
I could go on...

but screen is edge to edge.

Tbh, the specs are far better than I would expect for £100...
And it's pretty
Hope Elephone are better today as the M3 model I bought ..think 3 yrs ago..was utter rubbish so once bitten twice shy.
Can't argue with the price especially as they throw in a free Elephone A2.

Like umidigi, the way Elephone keep it cheap is with parts from the same supply chain as the likes of Samsung, the only difference is that they are cheaper because they are from batches with a higher failure rate, so the chances of getting a lemon are much higher.

However like umidigi, they have slowly become a lower mid their brand, so the stock they buy is no longer the worst, meaning that things like the umidigi X or the F1 play are generally decent albeit poorly optimised on a software level, so truthfully this is likely to be a solid enough buy.
What's shocking is that at this price the bezels are still smaller than the Pixel 3 and 4 (slight exception).
Considering a Lenovo with Snapdragon 710 on AE was posted on here for less than £100, I think it worth looking out for another offer on the Lenovo over the Elephone.
Don't know if things have improved but I remember in the early days actual phones used to look different from the renders. Also doubt they release security patches.
There's a question on this phone posted 6hrs ago on r/Chinaphones if anyone is interested.
Just Google r/chinaphones if you don't know what that is...
Worst phone make I ever got. I always buy phones from aliexpress ranging from ulefone, umiiron and elephone and this was the worst. 2 years ago I got a 4k Screen phone and it records in 4K too... But the SD card that they put it in there was so useless that the lip sync was out by about 10 seconds to the footage when you film. And that's trying with all the recording settings like 1080, 720, etc... And... it didn't have an SD slot so I was stuck with it. Might have improved now but doubt it.. And even tho the files said it recorded in 4K... the footage itself was like a grainy 1080p video. Worse company I ever experienced
Probably the best guide to this phone is the elephone u2, which it was released alongside. Some reviews call it the bargain of the year, others describe it as an awful phone, either way you can't buy cheap without a sacrifice. This is really good value, but it is no mi9t pro.

I would maybe put it like this. If the software is near stock, and there is a decent amount of scope to mod the thing or add apks like gcam, then as long as the basics are there, you can modify a phone into a good one. The truth is though, maybe vernee and gome aside, pay less than 100 quid for a phone, and manage your expectations. There will always be something that drags it down.

So is it a physical trigger? That might be more reliable long term.

Don't think so. That's what I was saying, I wish that is was
I took that as meaning it doesn't pop out automatically for face recognition.
