  • ELEX is an action, role-playing open world game set in a brand new, post-apocalyptic, Science-Fantasy universe where magic meets mechs
  • Advanced, civilized and with a population of billions, Magalan was a planet looking to the future. Then the meteor hit. Those who survived are now trapped in a battle to survive, a struggle to decide the fate of a planet
  • Find a companion, choose a faction and influence the world. In ELEX there is no traditional class system. Instead you must earn the trust of experienced teachers to develop the skills you select
  • From swords and axes, to bows and harpoons, ELEX offers one of the widest selections of weaponry in the history of role-playing. Shotgun, plasma rifle or flame thrower - there's a weapon and combat style for every fighter out there
  • Be it a hammer, a rocket launcher or the power of magic, ELEX balances science, fantasy and brute force to let you choose the combat style that fits your role best!
  • Your attitude towards the people you meet will influence those around you. Will you make an ally or an enemy? Is now the time to show emotion or take the course of logic? Every choice will forge the future of your game
  • Go where you want, choose your battles and your allies, the only thing in the world that will stop you, are the mutant creatures that live in Magalan's Elex polluted landscapes
  • Walk, run, or punch your jetpack into action, if you can see it, you can reach it. Open world role-playing has never been more open

I loved the bones off this, but I am very fond of clunky B-level Euro RPGs anyway. For the first five hours I really did want to throw in the towel, because you literally cannot do anything and the game isn't very good at telling you why. What's the first thing you do in any RPG, go and kill rats in the basement right? WRONG. In this the rats will mess up your day until you're about level 10 so you want to run from literally everything and get your XP by just completing quests, which is the most efficient way to get XP anyway. This is actually a very good thing because it gets you more involved in the story and learning about the different factions. When you get to be a high enough level you will start getting stronger, learning more skills and you can start being a little more of the traditional RPG kill everything powerhouse people are used to. By the end of the game you will not want to put it down, it's just brilliant.

tl;dr if you're a fan of rough around the edges RPGs like Two Worlds, Arcania, Risen etc then buy this. Just be prepared for a slog during the opening hours.

Sometimes I've bought a CE without the game (recore for example). But usually, I sell for what I paid or more. I rarely buy games day one anymore. So picking up the full bundle 1-3 months later at sub £40 is a bargain for me. But my only issue with CE's now aday's is where they are producing a lot more. Quality control is becoming rather poor. Then they do this:Day one standard edition (game and dlc)Special edition (game and maybe first dlc pack). XYZ edition (game and season pass)And collectors (game, statue more dlc no season pass). Edit: the only CE I'll be getting 100% is the last of us 2 if they release one with it. Other than that I've out grown them. A friend told me it was a bit childish to collect and display them. It killed the geek inside off me :,(

anybody got this? and is it a good collectors edition to have?
and is the game in a normal case?
Never heard of this game but if it's from THQ Nordic then it *might* be decent.

Would love to hear some opinions from anyone who has played it.

I really enjoyed it on the PC, it’s clunky and not the prettiest but it’s quite close to a science fiction version of the first Gothic game if that’s a reference point for you.

There is a decent review here on RPGCodex.

It’s amazing how you can “get” what someone is saying within seconds.

I used to be like that. If it's cheap and has a sick figure I'd display it. But ran out of space so ended up selling most of mine. Surprised how well a few have sold.

That's it, with collectors editions once there gone as they say there gone, so depending how many were made originally and what you paid for it, either you will get your money back or will make a profit not very often you will make a loss on ce unless you bought on release of course,

Well I have so many that are just about worthless. I used to think like you.

If you enjoy them then that’s fine. Just trying to share my experiences with you

I agree. But I did make some money out off it and a lot of shelf space so it's not all bad.
