Get it via the Hungary store and it's a much more reasonable £14.33ish.

I'm happy to do so as I've already paid £95 to Kickstarter for the PC version

Nice, I got my Xbox credit 30-40% off from recent deals so I'm happy to buy from the UK store.

The Long Dark is also on there. I've got both trials downloaded, will give them a go tonight

I got an email from Frontier last night offering me £5 voucher (only redeemable in the Frontier Store mind) if I buy the Xbox version and link it with my current pc version account.

I'm assuming that the cross buy will be solely with the micrsoft store in Win10, and this £5 is a gesture for those that already bought the game so won't be buying it again in Win10.

I played a little bit before work this morning. It doesn't give any direction or gameplay hints, just drops you in! I found a hut, settled down for the night and then went exploring in the morning.

It's interesting, I dunno if I wanna buy it though. Think I need more time with the trial, and to play E:D before I decide what to go for.

yes yes yes

Good stuff, will set the trials downloading. I'm really looking forward to Day Z coming though, I've wanted to play for ages.

Bought. Loved Elite back in 87. ZX Spectrum heaven. Think this one looks a touch better.

Empty and pointless game. No depth or atmosphere beyond the initial "im in a real spaceship!" feeling, and that honeymoon is over quick.

I paid £40 at release for this as well as the price of a joystick and it took me a fair amount of willpower to finally give up on it after such an investment.

I bought it on the PC Beta and stopped playing a few months ago, the flight model, sclae of it (400 billion star systems) and graphics are all very impressive, but its a real grind to generate any decent money and takes allot of time to gain the money to upgrade your ship/buy a new ship. It is also quite difficult to find good trade routes, you have to really analyse systems and finding a decent port near to your jump point can be frustrating, they really tightened this up on the major release tweaking the trade model and not allowing tools to give help on trade routes. My main problem is there is no underlying major mission/story, I prefered the old First Encounters where there was the basic flight, trade model, deliveries, assinations missions etc, but also an underlying story path involving the Thargoids (special ships in Ardents Quest etc). This is sadly missing for me and has been given up for the Multi User Universe, they are doing factions etc, but that does not hold the same interest for me. Saying that, I put about 40 hours gamesplay into it before stopping, which is the most I have played a single game since First Encouters in 1994, so i guess I got my moneys worth, was just a shame when I realised to get a better ship will take about 20 hours of trading A to B to C then back to A, repeat about 100 hundred times. I may go back to it in the future, this is a developing game still, so they will be adding more content, there is talk of landing on planets and leaving your ship etc. It will be interesting to see how it does on the Xbox One, its more of a slow burner game than your average console game where you expect to jump in and start playing in massive battles straight away. This is more of an homage to the Orginal Elite in 1984 (I bought that on release day for my BBC Model B also).

On Xbox.com just change the region to Hungary (bottom left).

You'll probably have to buy Hungarian gift cards and redeem them. I do this for the Brazilian and Russian stores.

That confirms my fears. I'm sure it's a short lived but incredible experience.
Fortunately I own an Oculus DK2 so at the right price I would really like to give it a go.

The only Dangerous thing about this is the possibility of dying of boredom while playing, don't say i did not warn ya.
Edited by: "Limey21" 16th Jun 2015

Good price. It'll be good to have more people filling up the Universe. However more frustrating when Queuing up to land on a platform. 'Landing Request Denied'. Quit. Restart in Solo mode.

Its still early days for the game, I think the comments on it being boring are harsh.

The downside is the time spent in supercruise when you come out of hyperspace, that could do with being improved.

The new conflict zones, resource extraction sites & power play have helped boost the game and let you interact more with players.

Its the best space sim out there, ( the only decent one too )

The game has a very very steep learning curve, you can just jump in and start pew pew right away

Launch trailer if anybody wants to take a look. It wasn't included in Microsoft's E3 presentation.

Oculus was one reason I got this, though I expected at the time it was going to be released this summer. I may go back to this then (in fact I will) but I think Star Citizen will be available then and it looks to be the more fleshed out game.

This plus HoloLens would be cool... my living room is a space-ship!!!

Played Elite II for about 4 years, so happy to buy this and get some play out of it hopefully!
'Free' PC version a bonus too - though I expect this to blur further as we'll be able to stream Xbox One games to Windows 10 devices, and now even play 360 titles!

If you're in the Microsoft ecosystem, then it's really going to get pretty cool this year.
Almost what it's like for those people in the "it just works" Apple eco-system.. (but cheaper hardware!)

I have to agree with other current players. Its awesome at first, then you soon realise... "what's the point? what am I trading, getting more money to do exactly" and then you find out the answer to that is "nothing"... there actually isn't a point. If you get to the end ship, the anaconda, you're doing nothing more than you were in the first few ships... trading, a bit of bounty hunting... explore the pretty endless space for nothing.

Also, it has 400 billion systems to goto but there is a region called "Known space" which is relatively tiny where there's space stations... 99.9% of the game is filled with systems with no trade points, no bounty hunting, no nothing except stars and planets (which all look the same, 8 models of stars and planets)

It's buggy as hell right now (PC version) despite being released 8 months ago.

You'd think you can find this awesome trade route that no-one else has found, but you can't. Once you goto a bunch of about 20 systems you soon realise that all "known space" is quite equally distributed and all the same as those 20 systems.

Despite what someone above said, there's also programs that have analysed all prices and tell you which trades to do, used to use OCR but now taps directly into the iPhone companion app and takes data from that. Thus those tools prove there is no "awesome trade" to be had anywhere. Its taking Imperial slaves to 1 system and bringing either metals or Ore back to that same place. A-B then B-A over and over and over. All other trades are 30% less than that meaning Agricultural systems are pointless... if they dont sell metal/ore or Slaves then it's pointless and you'll never go there to trade.

Same with bounty hunting, you find a place and never go anywhere else. You reset the "instance" by logging off and logging back on countless times until the right targets spawn there.

I've clocked maybe 60 hours or so, net worth about 90 million and I kinda give up now.

It was great fun in those 60 hours so worth the £40 price tag I paid (and another £40 for a hotas X joystick) but its definitely not like other MMO's where you can lose yourself for a year or 5!!

Worst part is, you can pick Open play, group play or solo when you log in and its the same game/prices/character whichever you pick except in solo you can't interact with other people... so all the bounty hunters sit in Open while all targets, traders, are sat in solo play. Group play is so you can do "solo" so to speak with just your friends and noone else.

PowerPlay they just introduced rewards you for being on the dole! if you are quite casual i.e. <10 hours per week then I wouldn't bother taking part because your rank decays so if you don't log on much you just can't go up fast enough. Be warned.

No need for a VPN or Hungary credit:

On the Xbox go to System and Location and pick Hungary and reboot. The store will now be in Hungarian Forint (if i remember E:D was 6,100 of them) use xe.com to work out the exchange (remember some credit cards will charge a small fee for paying in Forint) then when buying add your name and credit details as normal but add a fake Hungarian address, it should go through without an issue. Save the details and you'll only need to do the System/Location trick to do it next time. Once its downloading go back to System and switch to UK again, it'll continue to download once you reboot.

I've been playing this on the PC for a while and have been enjoying it. I'll be getting it for Xbox One as I have a couple of other friends on Xbox that have been dying to relive their youth and play this game.

It's a space simulator, so if you into the CoD type of games where its constant action and button mashing, then this probably isn't for you. If you were an original fan of the game in the 80's then you probably know what I mean.

I assume this game will be arriving on the PS4? Surely?

So can you buy this for the Xbox One somehow if you don't have the console, and get the PC version for waaaaay cheaper than it is now? It's a bit of a rip off at the moment.

Edit: Oh, Windows 10

Yes, David Braben has said it will be coming to PS4 eventually. No release date has been given though.

I really like the look of No Man's Sky, although it does appear they've been getting a bit of a kicking at E3 this week. I'd be surprised if that isn't a timed exclusive as well and eventually makes it over to the Xbox One. I don't think they've ever denied it isn't making it over to Xbox One when asked. They just say it's exclusive to PS4. That could just be a timed exclusive.

It's just because Xbox have their own "Early Access" style programme that it's available now. When it's a finished product it'll come to PS4 I imagine.

It is good on the Oculus but unfortunately it gets boring. After the initial wow factor, and that lasts quite a few hours, the game just becomes a grind. AI pirates are too easy once you get a Viper and I've found that on the rare occasion I fight a human they have had far more practice at PvP than me and I get annihilated.

Trading is so dull it's unbelievable, I sat one afternoon with the DK2 flying back and fourth for hours before something clicked and I stopped playing. I haven't picked it up since.

I get the weekly emails from Frontier with updates but nothing has tempted me so far to go back in. Such a shame as I backed it from the start and was immensely excited for it, even buying a DK2 in preparation.

It's already confirmed coming to Windows, so pushing it to Xbox One probably wouldn't be that much of a stretch.
