Absolutely incredible game, especially with a HOTAS setup. But still good on pad. I had some serious mouth open gawping moments over the graphics in.hyper drive and sheer scale of the space stations

What's extra in the deluxe edition and is it worth it
Been thinking about getting this for a while, what's the difference between all the versions?
Great game until they decided to cater almost exclusively for the 24/7, never leave their sofa brigade. Don't bother with it now, which is a shame.

Nothing wrong with the console version, you will get a lot of fun gameplay from it, BUT, if you have a ok PC then go for the PC version because it simply offfers the best version when it comes to stuff like better graphics and effects options.

But no matter the version, you will enjoy it, if space trucking is your thing, you will spend a long long long long long long long time doing nothing but space trucking, and running away, in this game, gettting more money and getting better ships and stuff, and running away, before you even think about standing up against any other ship, this game is days and days of safe trucking with the odd moments of sheer terror as you watch your sheild and hull drop dramatically from a ship attack as you wait, beg and pled with your hyper drive to charge up faster so you can run away before you are blown into small bits across space.........welcome to Elite.
thanks OP - ordered. been waiting for this to drop to a decent price
So tempted by this. Does it play anything like X2 The Threat or X3 Reunion?
I loved those games back in the day, too young for the original elite.
Would people generally play single player or multiplayer in this game?

There are 3 options ...
1) Solo - Play on your own in the galaxy safe from any other human players.
2) Network - Play with invited friends in the galaxy, safe from other human players.
3) Open world - Play in a galaxy which has other human players who are also playing that mode.

You can chop and change anytime you want. So play solo to begin with, build up some cash and learn to play safely. Then try the game with friends or strangers, taking your same ships/money with you.

Even in solo mode though the galaxy is affected by what all other players across all other formats (PC, Xbox, PS4) are doing. So trade routes/prices and faction influence are influx and change even ifyou’re playing solo.

It has a steep learning curve ... watch YouTube for tips. Play the tutorials. Good luck

Yep, the Horizons update is included with the Commander Deluxe edition. Base game is pretty much crippled, you need the Horizons update so you can land on planets, have the 'Story' missions etc. The only other 'upgrade' that comes with the Commander Deluxe edition is basically some paint jobs for ships.
Top tip is to run data trade missions to begin with (no cargo space required). Also choose a station as your main base, always return to it, run missions in and out of it. This will increase your reputation with the local factions ... which will in turn give you better paying missions. I wouldn’t touch combat until you can buy a kit out a Vulture ... and remember the 10% rebut cost if your ship gets blown up ... so have a Vulture and some cash in the bank first, then go after some wanted craft, smaller craft. But return to trade or mining for more cash per hour ... when you can, get an Asp Explorer, stick a first class cabin in it and do some sight seeing passenger runs - that’s where the real money is
I currently run passenger missions in one of the top ships, an Anaconda, but it will be a while before you can afford and kit that out.
All that said, play it how you want, that’s the beauty of this game. I play other games, but always return to Elite.

I'd say that if you know it'll run better on the Xbox, plus you have friends who'll also be playing it, then get it for the Xbox.
A HOTAS isn't necessary, it plays fine with a controller.
Please can someone confirm if you need the commander deluxe edition or if basic game is enough? Thanks.
