ordered awesome thanks, been after one of these for ages and this i can afford

Halfords have a got couple on sale at the moment. The more expensive one is a lot quieter and may be the better option?
halfords.com/cyc…ack

Of course there's cashback, Halfords vouchers and the 10% British Cycling discount as well

Got a code for that discount?

The British Cycling discountis through the membership. You print off a voucher. I used one of the original codes on the '22% discount at Halfords' to get 10% off the Halfords vouchers. Its all covered on there

its the same product isnt it dude just this one you have put it the pack not just the trainer itself ?

Bought one of these Jst after new year. Easy to set up. I'd recommend getting the front wheel riser if you can. Make the training a but more comfortable. I enjoy mine and there's loads of videos on YouTube you can cycle along too.

Hell on earth.

Upon taking delivery of the Elite Magnetic Cycle Turbo Trainer, to save time, simply put it straight in the attic whilst still boxed. This will save you valuable storage during the seven years that it remains untouched before you end up giving it away to someone from work as you are going through a painful and expensive divorce.

I have the elastogel version. V good. Hot

Tut tut - I love mine. Use it most nights for 30 mins or so using the YouTube vids like the man said. Very good for weight loss.

Great for charging windup torches as you exercise.

Nice enough - I paid about £100 a couple of years ago for a damaged box one while on offer.
I made a front wheel riser from a bit of 2x2 and two small sections of 12mm or so plywood - did the job fine and I can flip it to give me a different height.

do you need someone to talk to ?

Any codes about or discount on the horizon?

Anyone looking for a good video to follow on the turbo i highly recommend this one, been doing it a while now and really does give you a workout!

I'm about to save everyone £74, thank me later...

Simply lay back on your bed, put the palms of your hands on your lower back and then raise your bum into the air whilst pushing with your hands, tuck your elbows in underneath you to support the weight of your back. Now whilst your bum is in the air perform a pedaling motion with your legs.

Only kidding, although I'd rather go for a bike ride these trainers are actually quite impressive (tried my sisters one), this is a great price.

This looks good but may be loud:

This guy gives a good explanation of the difference in trainers (maybe):

I have this and I wouldn't say its loud. none of them are whisper quiet. deffo need a front wheel riser to keep the bike at an even height but you can easily make something. very sturdy. good bit of kit.

I got a Powerfly Magnetic Bike Turbo Trainer from another deal for £39.90. Even now they're only £42 What's the difference apart from the price? They look identical.

Can someone tell me if this is simular or better? Thanks tesco.com/dir…896

Will do the same job and icludes the riser block. Looks a little bit less robust, and probably uses cheaper components, but i'm sure it will do the job fine.

I have this exact model, got it for £50 last NY. Used it a lot last winter but hardly at all this year as the winter has been so mild I've stayed out on the roads. However, the Mrs uses it 3 times a week (fair weather rider).

It's not the quietest bit of kit but certainly does the job & I recommend the Sufferfest videos, you'll feel like puking when you finish. Also, get a riser for the front wheel and a sweat catcher for the deck and headset.

Looks like exactly the same model with a few extras thrown in, how can it be quieter?

Edit: I'm guessing you mean this one as it has 'Elastogel' and is more suitable for MTB's

excellent kit, basic design but functions as well as more sophisticated models and is more stable than my Tacx Blue Motion that cost twice as much.

+1 for Sufferfests, entertaining but effective training videos. Global Cycling Network on YouTube have done a few similar training films which are free.

Would rather ride for real and I'm an all year rider but sometimes its too icy or windy to be safe or sensible.

Would you recommend using a different tyre to what you use on the roads with this? Will it not destroy a 'normal' tyre?

Use a cheap tyre yes - it will destroy it.

Good price heat added!

I've thought about buying a trainer but this is what puts me off.

Really can't be bothered changing the tyre every time I want to use it.

I thought about looking for a cheap wheel, then keeping the turbo tyre on that. Quicker to switch the wheel than tyre I guess...

I thought about the exact same thing earlier when I was sheltering for 15 mins from a downpour in a bus shelter. I only went out for a 'quick spin'. Bike was filthy when I got back too so more time taken cleaning it.

I'll have a look for a cheap wheel and tyre later.

Great for charging windup torches/radios.

Just a word of caution
States - 'Please note that this cycle trainer will work with almost all bikes. A slick rear wheel is recommended'
Mountain Bike wheel is not recomended as had to take mine back as wheel was too big
Offered the £155 one in shop but declined as they didnt do a swap

I had one of these, they do what they say on the tin, as mentioned a slick training tyre is preferable, but mainly for noise. They are not silent, do not expect anyone to watch tv in the same room or expect to sleep if you use it early morning. Will fit any 700c wheel as that's what I used, no idea about other sizes.
A word of caution for men who have never used one before. Because turbo training means no movement out of the seat, unlike riding on the road where you will sometimes stand up, free wheel or lean, be careful you don't go numb in places you really don't want go numb, turbo trainers can do this and it is quite common.
Great buy, I paid £100 for mine at the time and was very pleased with it, so this is definitely a deal

You can get these trainers for under £60 on eBay I don't how this has been voted hot? Is there a bike included or something I am missing ???
