Actually, the majority of parents will agree- and as a parent so I can speak with some degree of wisdom and experience.

Utter waste of money:p

I stand corrected

i got TMX Elmo Secret Edition for £10 from Woolworths, what makes this one worth £40 more?

i am not voting on this but would like to say why the heck do the toy companies and retailers price these toys so high? they use children as tools to bleed their parents dry, they should learn to be less greedy and devilish especially after the banking crisis/collapse

This was suppose to sell out this Xmas, with recession already here I don't anyone will break the bank for one

I got my son the tmx Elmo, great toy......the you tube vis made this look great imo, hot from me as it is gonna be a wanted toy come xmas!

I personally love this Elmo - then again Im a sucker for such things. Wouldnt pay this much though! I want it but not that much. Prices will drop before Christmas. On everything. Betting woolies will have this cheap!

Agreed, this doesnt look like a bad toy, its just the price i think everyone hates as at the end of the day it is a kids toy.

How much did you pay for the one you got ?

Its in 3 for 2 toy offer at woolies - but out of stock online...

I don't think this is extortionate for what it does. I would pay £48 for it.
Voted hot.

Mine too - they love it. Seriously considering buying one of these - VERY expensive for a bargain hunter like me though!!! :?

I think I can wait til the Jan sales for this!!!

Love Elmo.....as you can probably tell!!

I completely disagree.
I have a 3.5mth old who I know will be in fits of giggles on xmas day (he will be 6mths old) when his 2 yr old brother sets this off.
Im 110% sure his brother will absolutely love it too.

You'd be better off buyng a glove puppet for a fiver and putting the rest of the money saved into a fund for their college expenses in the future.

You'll have a lot more fun inter-acting with them and you'll make 'em laugh just as much, if not more. You could even make a glove puppet for next to nothing with a bit of imagination.

This Elmo toy will get broken and end up in landfill or be just ignored within a year.

If your kids still find it funny in 12 months, I'd start to worry:p

Some parents do actually have that amount of money to spend on their kids and also put money away for their future....I have already bought one for my daughter for xmas as she used her TMX one to death.......:)

Well, if you've got cash to spare then give it away to people who will go hungry at Christmas rather than waste it on this:p

They certainly can't sleep on Xmas eve.

However they're in their teens now and get much more expensive but worthwhile gifts, which I can afford 'cos I didn't waste my money on cra*p like this when they were tiny:p

Depends how old they are. I've never seen a two year complain that they haven't got the latest TV-advertised piece of cra*p on Christmas morning. They're too busy ripping off wrapping paper and playing with that and the cardboard box instead of the gift.

Seriously, if anyone has pre-school kids who would be disappointed if they didn't get the "Toy of the Year", you really need to address some serious parenting issues:whistling:

She discussed that with you did she?

FFS, put a big cardboard box on the floor and I bet she'll have a better time playing with it than £50s worth of Elmo.

You made the same point earlier - you haven't re-presented it in a better way at all.

You still don't seem to be able to understand that this is an utter waste of money for pre-school children. It has been suggested that it is especially suitable for a 6 month and a 2 year old child. :whistling:

Utter cra*p.

If you think this is a suitable gift I obviously won't change your mind and quite frankly, I don't give a flying one either.:p

you seem to have rather strong views on people spending £50 to get a nice present for their kids at xmas time.
Think we should leave it , you stick with the glove puppet for a couple of quid , I will stick with the work of the devil .............Elmo live :santa:

The definition of 'utter waste of money' and 'c**p' is subjective and personal - it obviously is to you, so fair enough. But give up trying to lecture the whole world that you're right and they're wrong, cos you won't win!

It's a ridiculous waste of cash to buy this for a pre-school child. If it is not then please explain why it's a value for money purchase.
