Price of footwear if your in the emergency services/security is scandalous these days. Buy cheap rubbish and you will blister all day. Get expensive boots and your guaranteed to get them damaged the first time you wear them.
Most services provide the uniform but not the boots (the main part of the uniform).
A common boot is the Hi Tec Magnum. There not the best and you can get better however they are normally quite reasonable and seem to last.
However the classic company Karrimor have designed a boot which is a carbon copy of the Magnum Panther 8.0 Boots With Side Zip. These Magnums are about £50 on the website, however the Karrimor are only £26. They are identical in every way the only difference is instead of the Magnum Logo on the side and base you have the Karrimor instead.
Check for yourself these are identical. They may not last as long (But should) but the way I look at it is you can nearly buy two pairs of these for the same price of the Magnums so must be a bargain.

Sorry couldnt upload picture but will do later.

You say it's identical but then that they may not last as long? Do you mean identical in appearance?

I thought all emergency services provided boots? Police fire and ambulance certainly do in Manchester.

Or you could get these posted last week and only about £10 more, can't remember if there was delivery to be added ....

Emergency Service personnel certainly DO have to buy their own boots, etc. Best boots by a country mile are Magnums. Worth the extra cost as they last ages.

Identical in appearance. Can't see any difference but Im no shoe expert. Depending on where you work I know the north east only select groups get free boots but the everyday on the beat staff get nowt!!

Cyberman - looks good and still in stock. They charge £5.69 for P+P and in Sports Direct you can buy from store. Im sick of buying decent boot (Altberg Peacekeeper) spending loads then ruining them straight away. For me I would prefer to buy two pair of the Karrimor.

Karrimor boots are awesome they seen me through that snow last year and kept my feet bone dry got them in sports direct for less than 30quid Clarks wanted over a hundred for waterproof boots at the time!

i dont buy my own boots they are provided for me

Forget magnums. Go try some altbergs. There's a reason arvs and force support use them.

I can fully endorse this statement, I wore altbergs for about 8yrs and they offer great protection from both the elements and hazards. They can be re-soled and repaired at the factory too!

Agree magnums are rubbish really poor quality now to what they used to be, top of the shop are bates batesfootwear.com/UK/en

iv got a pair of Karrimor boots and they are just OK. Supposed to be waterproof but they arent. Fine for the cheap price.

third vote for Altbergs. The guys at the factory are EXTREMELY helpful. BUT you pay for what you get!! Not really fair to compare Altbergs with these, which look like a good deal for the price, so heat added. If you are looking for best quality, Altberg can make a boot to fit your feet, literally, then whenever you need them repaired, resoled or even replaced they will do it all (at more cost of course). I injured my foot whilst in the forces and Altberg made a cast of my foot (took three fittings!) now whenever I need boots, quick phone call and they make me a new pair up

limited sizes tho.

I have a pair of these for winter months and walking.. Very comfortable and very warm in winter. Obviously I'm not wearing them everyday so couldn't comment on longevity..

Totally agree Altbergs are the best boots you can buy. U used to get discount and get for around £85-£90, but now more like £125. U can get Altbergs resoled as long as the leather upper is not split bargain. Certain specialist teams get issued with boots however the majority of frontline polis get nothing.
For now a pair of £26 Magnum lookalikes will do for me.

No they dont

I assure you they do. I'm Fire Service, my gf's Ambulance and my best mate is Police all in Greater Manchester and we were all provided with respective uniforms including boots. Maybe certain departments don't provide boots but the ones we work in do. I even get 6 pairs of socks per annual issue!

Looks like depends what force or service your from for this one. Some do most dont. Well pleased with mine and a bargain

For you guys - check out YDS - no idea what people think of them yet but theyre new to the UK and having had a look at them they seem to be pretty cool (soles arent glued on like crappy magnums).

Also id have given heat to this but no size 11
