I would think this is for people who want to own it for more than a month rather than just watch it once.

Actually you can’t at the moment. 4K/Atmos titles are limited to 1440p and standard 5.1 at 256kbps.
Don't bother. Turns out Darth Vader is Luke's dad

Precisely, PointY m8. These are ones to own.
Do people still really buy, digitally, out right.
I love Star Wars, and movies in general but this just seems like throwing money away when you can just stream, mostly, whenever and whatever you want.
Each to their own of course

Haha yeah. Best of the original trilogy though.

What’s the bet that ROTJ will be reduced tomorrow before episode 9 launch

They should have Return of the Jedi at £5.99 tomorrow. And this is the cheapest they've ever been. Even as part of the 6-Movie Bundle, at the cheapest price they've averaged £7.50 each on iTunes UK!

Movies are not on streaming services forever. Not everybody pays to rent movies on streaming services or has them all either.
Probably the best of the Star Wars movies IMO
Or just buy the DVD for less

That isn’t HD. Also doesn’t stream to all your devices. Plus it’s a second hand from CEX so probably scratched and covered in saliva

I still buy movies I love. Plenty films drop in and out of subscription services meaning I’m more likely to be able to watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it.

What you're talking about is the difference between owning a film and renting it from blockbuster back in the day.

The ability to watch the 600 itunes films I own is impossible on streaming services without having to rent individual films. Many simply aren't on these steaming sites, and the ones that are are spread over various services, all adding up to it being cheaper to just BUY the films.

Unless you like restrictions on what you can watch.

Doesn't say HD in the post either
The real question is..
Which version is this?

40379505.jpgThat's just the audio changes for every release. Don't get me started on the visual changes...

The movie is though from iTunes. Most are HD with free upgrades to 4K if that version is added. Disney won’t allow 4K on iTunes though.
It’s not the Despecialised edition, but for the price it’s not bad

I now only watch the HD Despecialised editions anytime I wanna rewatch the Original Trilogy without all the stupid added stuff, in HD too (no, not from the 2006 re-released DVD’s I’m talking actually HD files) Just a shame we will never get those in official release as I’d throw money down for those.
But at least I can watch them thanks to the Internet, I guess Disney doesn’t want my extra cash.

At the very least Empire Strikes back is the least messed with of all the Original Films, so if I have no choice I will happily watch this edition.

It’s barely even HDR though. You get the resolution increase I guess but it’s certainly not even close to what dolby vision should be.

I bought it, even though I wasn't sure they'd be doing - as it seems - one a day special offer. I've had my eye on the Bundle for quite a while now, but if they're releasing these on a 24 hour basis, then it'll end up being cheaper for the lot this way. If they hadn't been doing this deal, then I'd probably have just requested a refund.
It’s a good deal if you are happy with HD, I have a US iTunes account with a Movies Anywhere account and have the saga in full 4K, Cost me about 50 USD for the full 9 movie set, can watch them in 4K on Movies Anywhere app or even on my Xbox as I have the accounts linked. These are definitely worth a watch in 4K

I've missed out before - so learned the hard way! I figured this was a safe way of doing it. Even if they only do IV/V/VI this way, it's still the cheapest it's ever been for that trilogy. The 6-Movie Bundle - at its cheapest on iTunes - has been £45, making it £7.50 per movie. Keep an eye out for May The Fourth (Be With You) though - they may do a good deal on the Bundles then.

Even if they don't, and just stop at today's - I'll consider getting a full refund for both of these Movies as I won't start to watch them. If they release ROTJ tomorrow for £5.99, then great, I'll get that one. And if they don't release I/II/III the same way for £5.99 each, then that's ok.
One thing worth noting... I believe these iTunes versions are now taken from the 4K scans done a few years ago, which are used for the newly released HD/4K Blu-rays and Disney+. Whilst not 4K on iTunes, colour grading has been improved.

The screenshot below is taken from my rip of the original Blu-ray. This entire scene was always quite problematic, but the nasty colours and terrible blooming are gone on the new iTunes version.
