what is it? a pvr?

looks pretty good, anyone have any comments on it, looked on there website, plays loads of types of files except mkv.

quick google shows this is a good price as most are double this and dixons use too sell it or £150

Definitely a good price, even if you only use it as a 500 GB NAS! That price is really tempting, but I can't find much info about it from real world owners,....

what is it? a pvr?

whats google?

I wonder if they are getting rid of these as they are not freeview HD?

Reviews aren't flattering, but they did review it at a much higher price, seems like a bargain at £50 and free p&p. Problem seem to be software, but it is firmware upgradeable so maybe it'd end up being ok if they update it

And does it play MKV?

No MKV, no H264, No Freeview HD. Not latest generation technology hence the price, but a useful bit of kit for the price.

ordered. what the hell - it's been a couple of weeks since this site has 'made' me spend money....

I wonder if they are getting rid of these as they are not freeview HD?

Why does that matter? Is Freeview SD being turned off? Or has everyone now got Freeview HD coverage? Or has everyone now got a HD telly?

looks a good deal to me.... heat

you'll be saving over £100, it's a handy peice of kit, and it's a good find, so hot from me

£230 on play. com

can you connect this to sky plus?

FYI the Gadget Speak review slates it because it has no tuner at all but the spec on the item referred to here clearly states a digital/analogue tuner. Can anyone tell if this a twin tuner capable of recording one side and watching another?

sabz786

can you connect this to sky plus?

I don't think you would be able to use it to record anything other than DVB-T.

Don't forget quidco

seems it does indeed have twin tuner on the Q800 - without speaking to them I cant tell if it is a twin tuner that does both analogue and digital or one tuner for analogue and one for digital ?? The tecchies here (of which I am not one) may think this is a daft question and any feedback will be much appreciated so that I know if it will record one freeview channel whilst watching another.

It has one DVB-T tuner, one analogue tuner, and composite video input.

The reviews are for a different model.

And according to this it can record from any external source. Hopefully in the same resolution.

So it sucks then =/

What on earth is the use of an analogue tuner in this day & age!

What is the return policy for Currys & PCWorld?

Can you buy on the website, and then return it to a store if you don't want it?

:edit:

nevermind, answered my own question. here.

Hot from me.
£50 for a NAS / PVR 500GB / Internet radio etc etc

Also hack support from
sites.google.com/sit…ev/

Cheers OP.

BillyBits

On the one hand you get a TV tuner and a 500gb HD which must be worth £40 on their own plus extenisve connectivity.

Its a great price, but

slow interface, limited file replay types, not a good gui and problems using the lan feature with the computer make it a mixed bag. It is a bargain, but I think id rather pay the extra and just have soemthing that works without causing me hassle.

Seems it has gone

Looking for a twin tuner (what one record another, or record two and watch a recording) freeview box with series link - would this suffice?

Oh well, ends the discussion I guess =)
Should have bought, then researched, then returned unopened if it turned out to be crap.

Next time...

As OP stated, units also potentially available from Currys and PC World. PC World as totally OOS, but Currys allow Reserve & Collect, so may be worth putting your postcode in to check stock:

It means you can plug your sky plus box into it and record maybe?

pc world, currys and dixons are all doing this for same price with free delivery and quidco 3%

why as this been expired?

av output cable?

What no hdmi or scart ????

Dead loss for me, no wonder its £50, its really old hat.

Strange .. A search on google shows up as 149.97 at Curry's , Dixon's and PC World . Mis-price ? In all 3 stores ? oO !

Because it is out of stock, not just at Dixons but also Currys and PC World. Shame, I fancied one of these to replace the crushing disapointment that is PlayTV for PS3.
