I would have thought so, it would just act as a external HD when connected to your mac

Why don't you just get a video capture device?

I'm looking for DVS (satellite). Anyone know of a good offer under £200?

You'll be hard pushed to get something that will record to xvid in decent quality. It takes a relatively beefy cpu to record in good quality, and for best quality you really want to be doing two passes.

Have you looked into getting a dreambox? It'll stream the tv over your network at exactly the same quality it was broadcast at, so you can record it etc.
