The Emtec N200 is a multimedia bridge with High Definition decoding capacity for video and audio files. Access internet radio With your LAN connection you can access to Internet radio and browse your favorite radio stations by genre or country. Full hd media player plays AVI VOB ISO MKV MOV MP4 MPG/TS WMV DAT IFO RM - RMVB up to 1080P. Ethernet and two usb (can connect a wifi usb dongle) HDMI out and also has optical out for those who have surround audio without HDMI input. No built in storage attach via USB or network. I have been looking for a media player that will handle the files my 360 won't and this seems to tick all the boxes for the best price I have seen so far. Usual play discounts and Quidco apply. Is this any good though?

How does this compare to the WD player?

This is interesting, in the manual it mentions about support for AV streaming but no details, I bought a PS3 just for this functionality so this could be an interesting buy for some. But a review would be welcome

In comparison to the WD player this appears to have similar features but has ethernet built in. To connect the WD player to a network you have to buy a compatible usb/ethernet adaptor and flash with a hacked firmware and network streaming speed is limited which can cause problems streaming HD files. I would like to see a review too but it does sound promising I was considering one of the Acer Revos but they don't have optical out so I couldn't use my current amp. The manual discusses browsing remote shares and uPNP. emtec-international.com/PDF…pdf

you still have to buy an adaptor & there's no remote.

There is a remote with the unit according to the manual. I don't know what you mean by an adaptor the unit has ethernet built in and you can use a usb dongle if you want wifi however I suspect wireless might struggle with HD video.

Any ideas when this is released? I couldnt find any info @ play?

I spoke with Emtec and it should be released before the end of the month. It does come with remote and the WIFI will be draft N so it should run at 300mps. Needs to be used with their USB WIFI stick or a comparable version with Realtek chip set.
