Eneloop Pro...highly rated batteries with a good Charger for £31.99 delivered. Seems a very good price when looking at 4 aa pro batteries alone....Or a separate charger. I almost bought this. I opted instead for a venom charger and 4 aa batteries for £14.99 from Accessory Outlet...But that deal is not allowed. I have been looking for xbox controller batteries as they are very hungry and normal batteries are expensive. Hope this helps someone.

I thought Maplin ceased trading years ago !
I used to be a big fan of Eneloop batteries and have used them for years but earlier this year I looked around and found lesser known brands offering higher capacities, more recharge cycles for significantly less money.

One such example which I purchased:

PowerOwl 12-Pack AA 2800mAh 1200 Cycles - 8% voucher currently available.

EBL AAA 1100mAh 1200 cycles are also very good value and even come supplied with handy plastic storage boxes.

Good info, just to add that the IKEA batteries are believed to be the Panasonic eneloops in disguise just in a different wrapping.

Can you provide the links to the independent tests. I've used ikea and eneloop pros and noticed the difference on the soap dispenser, ikea lasting about 2 to 3 weeks, and eneloop far exceeding usage and time by at leat 2 weeks more. I'm using the simple human soap dispenser and more so now with C19 around. I don't believe ikeas lasted as long maybe I had a rubbish batch? Will deffo try them again if this is the case though
Managed to get a all purpose charger for £9.99 on eBay works a treat got about 20 aa/aaa batteries to top up from remotes and gadgets

Ikea batteries were never proven to be the same as eneloop, there are no "multiple independent tests" it all stemmed from 1 youtuber who said hey it's got the same capacity therefore it must be the same battery.

As long as the batteries are made in japan they are all made in the same factory as the Eneloop Pro Batteries, it's a lot of chinese batteries that differ in quality and consistency. Even the standard Eneloops are made elsewhere now

The charger makes a difference imo, hence recommending the Pro Panasonic BQ-CC65.

I use a Lii-PD4 which has been great for charging all sorts including Eneloop and Energizer.

Yeah, I don't understand people who suddenly make the connection that they're both manufactured in Japan, so they're obviously the exact same product!

I'd like to see ikea ones work at -20C and recharge the same number of times without losing its capacity. Then i'll consider them equal. I haven't seen anyone do that yet
Damn I thought there were more controversial things in life than batteries!

I agree, investing in a quality intelligent charger is a must if you own and use rechargeable batteries regularly. I have been very happy with my Technoline BL700N Intelligent Charger

Lazy.....
Eneloop Pro's work brilliantly in my view - I use them in flash guns and the recycle times are slightly quicker and they just keep going. This seems like a good price for the batteries and this charger, if it's the charger I think it is but this link doesn't work for me.

Edit: got the link working, don't think this is the charger I'm thinking of. Price isn't great with that in mind, although these batteries are still excellent.

Panasonic Eneloop Pro AA 2500mAh

Disappointing with only 500 recharge cycles at that price imo and I think I may have even paid more than this current price for mine?

Depends how often you charge them, I guess - I use alternate between multiple sets of these, charge them around once a month, they should last me about 40 years (probably more as it's unlikely I'll still be shooting as frequently in my sixties). They are excellent batteries compared to my standard eneloops/amazon basics/ikea batteries so the reduced recharge cycles doesn't bother me.

Not a battery expert but I would imagine there could still be a big performance range of batteries across multiple production lines within the same factory?

Interesting reads, thank you for the links. Done some more reading up on them too.
I'm surprised that they cannot make a difference in performance between the cheaper brands and more expensive ones.
Think I will be buying IKEA batteries from now on.

Thanks. I've been using a Duracel charger and Amazon basics batteries over the last 6 months or so but it's mainly toys I bought it for. Next time I need some though I will be sure to check out the stuff you mentioned.
.....and so the saga continues. I found this video on recharable batteries useful youtube.com/wat…ve8

.....also for battery chargers....eneloop101.com/cha…rs/

......and finally.....bestfoxcall.co.uk/pro…er/ I've never purchased from this company but appear to supply from the UK.
Alternative suppliers (AliExpress) are cheaper but with longer lead times.

.....for the enthusiast.... Opus-BT-C3400 vs Opus-BT-C3100-v2-2
