Apples own chargers are known for overheating/burning so this is unlikely to be any worse.

Genuine iPhone 5 charger cables are rubbish as well, price £12.50 and they last the same time as pound land ones. Most apple equipment is poor quality, still built in China like all the cheap copies

Seven day shop sell this for £6.99 or a 3.15 amp version £7.99 + £1.99 delivery

i've had 3 Poundland ones fail but only one Apple one (bought 4 of each so far).

Granted they're overpriced but they are better. Get a rugged one from griffin or another made for iPhone approved bigger brand if you're trashing them that often. I've for a 3m one of those as well and much better made than Apple's own.

Never had an apple charger pack up either. Get a decent brand and they're no more likely to fail either - it's cheap no-name Chinese stuff that plugs into the mains that I'm wary of

probably worth checking the mains output limit as well, if it's like home plugs there's a limit to what the socket can handle, I knew but my girlfriend didn't and plugged the vacuum cleaner into it and blew the homeplug
