All energy saving bulbs are BOGOF, which means the 6 year life bulbs are in the range £0.69 to £0.84. I've replaced all the bulbs in my house for around a tenner, and feel virtuous regarding the environment ,and saving on energy bills too.

Tesco online is out of stock, but the three Tescos near me are full of them. Go on save the planet!

Here's the nerdy bit. If you used 10 (60W) bulbs for 2 hours per day, 365 days a year, you'd have used 438 kW of electricity. At £0.12 per kWh, this is about £52 per annum of your electricty bill on lighting alone.

Energy saving bulbs use 80% less juice, therefore you'd save over £40 per annum. At a £8 to purchase the bulbs cost the payback is around 2 months. So after 2 months, not only are you saving money, but your keeping East Anglia from submerging.

Thats ok, the Tesco ones are waterproof. :-)

I quite like this type of bulb becuase they last quite well which then saves me having to constantly change lightbulbs....

Now all they need to do is come up with a decent performing low energy bulb that can be used with a dimmer switch

EDIT: Seems they already have google.co.uk/sea…x-a

Saving money is one thing and definitely worth having but East Anglia is not sinking due to global warming which has no scientific fact behind it. Here is the honest truth, the warming is caused simply by the molten magma http://sio.ucsd.edu/volcano/about/images/recycle.gif Human activity is very small in relation to the volcanic heat enough to melt rock let alone the ice caps.

This can be argued !!! But i really cannot be bothered!!!!!

Don't morrisons have energy saving bulbs for about 25p?

Morrisons are selling Phillips low energy bulbs @ 4 for £1.00

Voted Cold.

I'm sorry. Tesco branded energy saving lightbulbs are terrible in comparison to their Phillips and Ikea counterparts. I got burnt when buying Tesco. When I tried them, I found their bulbs start off very dim and take significantly longer to reach full power.

Buy some of the new Phillips instead, these are almost instant on and come in higher wattages.

I'm sorry but this is completely wrong. You are talking about a process that has a timescale of the order millions of years to explain global warming that has a timescale of decades. Think of it like this: the process you describe has always existed (or at least for billions of years) global warming has only been occurring since the industrial revolution. There is no evidence to show that tectonic or volcanic activity is greater now than before the industrial revolution. Good try though and nice to see the interest in Earth science

Bought a 100w eq Philips bulb for 39p in morrisons yesterday and yes they do have a double pack for 49p own brand but had run out of bayonet fitting only had screw in !!!

Morrisons have 2 for 49p i got a few yesterday from there

Nice spot

Do they do really small ones as the normal size ones don't fit in our light fittings as there is glass around the fitting
