EVERY YEAR THE GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES SUPPLIERS MONEY TO PASS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR WARM HOME DISCOUNT.

Customers get £140 added to their account in order to subsidise some of the energy you use during the winter.

The "Get Deal" button takes you to the gov.uk site which explains everything but I have also placed a forward link HERE

Customers fall into 2 groups for this discount.

Core Group
You qualify for the discount if on 7 July 2019 all of the following applied:

Broader Group
You may be able to apply directly to your electricity supplier for help if you do not get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit but:

This is known as being in the ‘broader group’.

To get the discount you’ll need to stay with your supplier until it’s paid.

Below I have compiled a list of suppliers and links to apply if your in the broader group and need to apply. Hopefully this is helpful to you.

Not entirely true. If you look hard enough you can get many things free.

Some people rely on that money as if they didn't, they literally could face death. Or face the heating or food dilemma.

And many don't unfortunately. And instead are brought up by an unbreakable chain of lazy families who cant be ar5ed to work but could if they wanted to. They then bring their kids up the same - to view dependency on benefits and having large families (the domino effect mumtiplies) as a career.

I'm glad poor pensioners and disabled ones get it - and fully support it. But alot shouldn't.

Its not all people that get it who are just on benefits. it's LOW INCOME families or people. Like me I'm 25, suffer from several illnesses like Diabetes,Mental Health and other things too which prevent me currently from working. So because all of these combines and the fact I get less than £16000 a year income I qualify.

I could still qualify though if I was working but earn less than 16000 a year.
Families with children normally are entitles too.

The thing with the broader group too is that not everyone who qualifies gets it as only a certain amount is allocated to each supplier. This is why its always wise to apply as soon as its open.

I agree the some families and people use the system to their advantage but what can you do? I mean I was reading the other day that Australia is thinking about doing drug tests on people who claim benefits and those with drugs in the system will forfeit their benefits.
Thank op.
Why do we never get these deals in Northern Ireland? We're stuck with the same two companies and neither of them are ever on the list for these deals.

Fully agree more than happy to support pensioners disabled or people genuinely need help but our broken benefit system creating more lazy ppl than helping
divert funds to create jobs etc and help the economy that paying some lazy ones and sadly their kids what will they learn looking at parents on dole

That’s because it’s nationalised. No shareholders to pay and no competition. So the chief executive just pay themselves the money instead.
Interesting debate, genuinely. I'm glad OP gets some help.
Mental health can precede drug taking, obviously drug taking may not help, but can be what is know as self medication. If so, the mental health element is likely to override the 'issue' of drug taking. A diagnosis/proof for DWP etc is from a medical professional.
