English Heritage 2 for 1 offer - August 2016 British Gas Customers (non customers can use!)

British Gas emailed me today advising that as a current customer I qualified for 2 for 1 entry at many English Heritage sites during August 2016. The link takes you straight to a page where you can download the PDF voucher. No qualification as a British Gas customer is needed!

They also have a link on there for 25% off a yearly subscription. 'BG25' at checkout

If I may make a minor correction; It is not 2 for 1 for all English Heritage sites as you say. It is only for participating ones.

Cheers for the headsup

It seems Stonehenge isn't included, for example. However the list is participating locations is pretty extensive.

FYI if you have a national trust membership you get reciprocal rights with some (not many, but some!) English heritage locations, such as Stonehenge. Always worth checking it out.

Also if you are joining National Trust don't! - join the Scottish NT as it is cheaper and can be used at all NT sites.

Great thanks will come in handy when in holiday in August.

Some people will want to support the NT and the good work they do through paying membership fees.

Others will say they can't afford to go on the UK price but the Scottish/New Zealand etc reciprocal deal means they can afford to go.

Others will justify abusing the reciprocal rites as that they spend money at the tea shop and gift shop which goes into the charity coffers.

I'm sure people can decide what's right for them. I personally think supporting the National Trust in whatever country you're mainly visiting properties in is the best way forward, but I'm lucky enough to have a lifetime membership.

I am with British gas but do you need to bring proof or anything when you use the voucher. Thanks OP

Nope, no proof needed, all you need to do is print out the voucher or have it ready on your phone to show when you pay the entrance fee. The voucher makes no reference to specific customers etc so can be used by anyone as many times as you like in August

If you want to get membership, as well as the 25% off code, there is also 5% quidco cashback.

i got this email from British gas. Was literally talking about getting a membership for this with the mrs.

If you join CSSC (you would need to check the website to see if you are eligible for membership) then you get free membership of English Heritage and Cadw for you and your family.

paulyh's deal is a good one. CSSC membership is £45.60 a year, which gets you 2 adults and up to 4 kids into Cadw and English Heritage sites. English Heritage is £92.50 for 2 adults (plus kids free).

Also Welsh castles with CSSC on the same 2 adults+kids for free.

That's all very well, but ignores the fact that charities are meant to be set-up for a charitable purpose, but how does that work with the National Trust CEO receiving over £200K? Seems self-serving to me, and it bugs me that every NT magazine is asking for donations all the time. The National Trust would collapse without all the volunteers who run it, and the salaries of its board members sticks in my craw, so being able to reduce the membership fee by getting a Scottish, New Zealand or Gambian one, is all okay as far as I'm concerned.

But is that for all English Heritage sites?

List of included sites

Yes, CSSC members can visit all English heritage sites free of charge with the family. We have gone to Stonehenge twice now this year no questions asked just show your membership card. This is just one of the benefits of membership, a free taste card, cheap cinema tickets and various organised trips at amazing prices are the main reasons I joined (I sound like one of their salesmen perhaps I should be on commission!)
