Entertainment sale - Blu-rays from £3.00 @ Asda *instore*

Was in my local Asda last night, and they had two small clearance bits set up (yellow cardboard shelves). They had a number of DVDs and CDs (nothing remarkable, they had alot of their 3/4 CD compilations, e.g. "100 movie themes", etc), but mixed in with the DVDs were some blu-rays for only £3.50! I picked up "No Country For Old Men" (down from £15), but they also had "Donkey Punch" and some vampire film Lucy Liu (think it was called "Rise: Blood Hunter").

I never bothered with those other 2, but one of the staff told me they had bought Saw III for £3 on blu-ray a couple of nights before, and that they had a bunch of other blu-rays in the back. However, he couldn't tell me what ones would be getting sold off for cheap, and when they would be. He just advised me to phone/check every day. Apparently, they had gotten them off a company who went bust (who also used to stock for Woolies, according to this guy), and they will just be selling them off over time.

NOTE: this seems to be instore only, and while stocks last. Blu-rays/ DVDs/ CDs will probably vary between stores.

The guy I spoke to said that its only really older stores. I have two Asdas near me, and one is brand new. I asked about that one, but he said he highly doubted newer ones would have this clearance.

And it varies between stores I believe - I just amended my post to show this

he has that wrong m8-its nothing to do with the age of the store-I work for asda in the home entertainment section-each store gets a weekly budget to clear old stock-how high this budget is depends on weekly takings of entertainment section-they can clear deleted stock any way they like with this budget-half price or better or just take a quid off the price-its entirely up to the department manager-usually you do the highest reductions on titles you have most of. with weekly budget reductions the titles will vary hugely in each store-in a specific store the manager may use their budget this week to clear kitchen/garden stock instead of cds/dvds etc-some stores reduced all the euk cd/dvd/game stock to 50 pence a unit over a coupla weeks to get rid and some still have loads.

My local ASDA was created by William Wallace, they must have this deal then

I bet people have taken up blue rays and just placed them in the pile. never have much luck in our store.

Think the best deal ive seen at any of my local Asdas is the 2 for £20 and that aint great!

I know, which surprised me because I saw "No Country for Old Men" last week in the "2 for £20" or £15 each. However, the clearance sticker said "Was: £15.00, Now: £3.50". I don't think it was a mistake, because there were 2 of them, and both were stickered and sealed.

However, someone did put a very recent DVD release amongst the clearance DVDs (can't remember what it was, but it didn't have a clearance sticker". All I can say is just to try your luck.
