This is a brilliant event! You may have forgotten that the emphasis is on steam!!
When all steam engines line up together the atmosphere is great, and I have a feeling that the fair ground rides are also run by the steam engines - which are all lit up at night.
Thank you! Just purchased the family ticket as were thinking of going and this deal has swung it for us!
Already going - but good deal, Hot from me
Can anyone find whats on what day? Would like to take my children to see the White Helmets as an ex signalman - And to the RS Musuem which isn't too far away?

I have been wondering that too....
This is a superb event. been going camping to this event for the last 19 years. As others have said, This fair has much more to offer other than just steam engines and vehicles. Even if your there just for the day you wouldn't be able fit everything in. Some great bands to see in the evenings. And don't forget the beer and cider tents.

If you live locally, I would highly recommend it for the day.
full of gypsy's last time I went

Take good note of where you leave your car, the parking is absolutely enormous and everyone puts a bag on their aerial so they can find it.
bmouthboyo has got it spot on, full of proper gypsys, do not be around after 9 at night if you want to live, or are fluent in gypo,.
I'd ignore the comment about gypsy's! Yes you will see one or two, plus a few country bumpkins, a number of chavs, and a huge number of everyday folk...much like any festival/fair anywhere in the country.

It's a great event, and been several times. Can make for an expensive night, and be prepared to have the taste of soot in your mouth the next day. Have some heat!
Great deal, we had great fun last time, hope the Yorkshire Pudding with stuffing and meat are still there, yummy

Ignore me at your own peril! Trust me, it is a Gypsy fest.

All of the indoor beer tents and music venues at the event do not charge entry. But they charge you a couple of quid extra to see a band on the Outdoor stage. Something like £5 per head.

Hope that helps.

Thanks tobias - My wife and I with our little lad (2 years old) were thinking of going on the 31st during the day only - so presumably this family deal would work out well for us? The outdoor stage sounds like something more relevant to the later evening?

This is very much an evening event yes. I'm not too sure whether it is free entry during the daytime. If it is you can check it out then.

Providing the weather conditions are good, upgrading for the outdoor stage should work out to be cheaper with a family rather than paying at the door which would cost a bit more. If you can, check what band are playing before you order. There are food vendors in the outdoor area too. If you need re-entry just get your hand stamped.
