Yes that's why surgeons still use hot water and soap. Do you have to be such a pedant?

Alcohol based, nasty to hands.

Dont they use alcohol based ones in hospitals, ergo, they are probably better?

They do, because they are quicker and easier. It would be nearly impossible to encourage every patient and visitor to wash their hands thoroughly so they offer this sort of gel. But washing with soap and water is proven to be more effective than these and these can be used as an addition to washing not a replacement. For normal people, washing is perfectly fine, and much cheaper.

Not only is soap fine, but it's potentially better for you than antibacterial soaps, which can encourage super bugs, and as such are facing a potential ban in the US;

They do use hot water and soap. Then use this as an additional measure.

I'm not being pedantic, normal people going about their normal lives don't need this sort of stuff. Just wash your hands regularly and properly. Just trying to save you a few quid.

The best thing about facts is that it doesn't matter if you believe them or not, they're still true.

Carefully read all that I've said. I never questioned it's effectiveness once. I'm just saying it's over the top. Sledge hammer to crack a nut. Just wash them mits and you'll save a few quid.

On a TV program it stated that one should wash their hands throughly, for the duration it takes a person to sing 'Happy Birthday' twice.

I also think that alcohol antibacterial gels should be added to the exit doors of men's public toilets, whether it is at work or leisure establishments!!!

I was shocked to learn on TV as well as from my boyfriend's observations, that over over half of men don't wash their hands after using the toilet - disgusting!

Nasty, I dont lie the alcohol ones as they dry my hands out, and this one seems to be more effective from what I have read.
