Looks good.

great find !!

thanks - don't know why they don't email existing customers to le tthem know about this?

Your right about that, we should have been told by them so thanks alot Musicrab

EoN should be informing customers of things like this.
All I ever get are ever increasing bills from them. I'm convinced someone must be leeching the electric from my one bedroom flat that I'm rarely at, based on their monthly bills!

If you contribute to their "yoursay" panel, you get informed first...

cheers. If the BG & N power ones arrive too I'll have 3, but as I'm an Eon customer maybe I'll actually get this one. I like the Eon energy tracker graph, I'm using 14% less than last year

can I just register for one? (I'm new to all this)

Have to agree. I stumbled on this at the eon site last night and was about to post when I discovered this one. They'll only have a fixed number of monitors and no doubt they'd rather use this freebie to sign up new customers than look after existing ones!. Anyway signed up now and completed the online questionnaire so should get an early heads-up next time a deal comes along... Thanks for posting.

thanks, but does anybody know if this includes a data cable because it talks about using the included software but it doesn't look like the Current Cost Envi (which it almost certainly is) usually comes with a data cable and have to be bought separately.

Eon are calling this "the latest Envi R monitor". I've looked through all the blurb (and videos) on the EON site (and YouTube) and there is no mention of how to connect your monitor to a PC. There's a brief glimpse of an RJ45 (ethernet) port undernreath the monitor in a YouTube video but that's it. I'm sure it's going to need an RJ45 to USB converter as per ]this site. From what I can see, you could pick up the equivalent on FleaBay for a couple of quid max. It might be that this monitor may also have the ability to monitor up to 9 individual applianaces using IAM (Individual Appliance Monitoring) technology. One of these IAMs might be enough for me though. Anyway, it is free and will be with us soon so we should not grumble too much!!

Brilliant, thanks.

Brilliant information thanks they said I should receive it in 28 days

It's about time Eon gave a bit back to its customers instead of take, take, take.

Heat from me.

Thanks

Hopefully they include a cable and they should because they cant really say you can connect to the computer and download the data if you can only do this with an extra cable which costs at least about £7.

Anyone had one of these delivered yet?

Banned

nope.

Received mine today..Waited about a month! Works but haven't connected to a PC yet.

I was sent a text today saying mine was on it's way.

Looks like we may have a wait on our hands for these to arrive.

Email from Eon:

due to the unexpected popularity of our Energy Fit Campaign there has been delays in delivery our customers Energy Fit packs.

Consequently you should receive your Energy Fit pack within 60 days of the date of registration.

We are seeking to resolve this issue and deliver all our requested Energy Fit packs as quickly as possible.

Mine has now arrived, glad to see it came with a data cable, I do already have one for the Classic but their new one is tidier than my serial to usb conversion lead.

I have the Envi connected to software now and I hope to have my gas meter readings input through the Envi shortly too.

I am using Kerry Neighbour's Currentchart free software and I am also trying out EnergyStation 30 day evauation (£10 licience) from Techtoniq.
Both these can be found along with others at currentcost.co.uk/sof…tml

Got mine today, but had to send it back as the time on the energy monitor took 20 'real time' seconds to add 1 minute - anyone else had this issue? Everything else worked, looks like a useful tool and thanks for the info MikeT.

Thanks for the links. My newish laptop really didn't like the E-ON software at all and I had to uninstall (but the laptop is still not behaving itself, perhaps something to do with Microsoft SQL Server 2005?). Anyway, it would be useful to find some different, non-E.ON, software I can use, should I choose to go to another supplier.

Also re: the claim: "it provides real time information of your whole house usage, or individual appliances, so you can identify those energy hungry appliances ..." Has anyone found good instructions on how to use it with individual appliances, please? Does it depend on the different type of software you choose?

@MikeT, Will you input gas meter readings in kWh units and input them manually into the Envi? Or will there be some new-fangled contraption that will do this automatically?

We've had our meter for over a week now and - in some ways it reminds me of when we first got Ceefax - I can't stop myself from checking it out even though I know there is very little to see! I hope it's not addictive! :giggle:
