I posted the green one last time and the price went up. I checked this morning and saw it was down again, so I've unexpired that one. At the same time, I'd seen the blue and ebony models have now hit the same price point, so figured that there could be folks out there that would prefer them to the green model

The Epiphone Casino Worn Ebony is a true star of rock 'n' roll. This best selling archtop design from Epiphone has seen fans since the '60s in the likes of Howlin' Wolf, Keith Richards and The Beatles. This version keeps many of the classic design elements but also does enough to make sure it'll go the distance for anyone picking up this model for the first time. With a thin 5-ply maple hollow body and a pair of P-90 pickups it is one of the most distinctive sounding guitars out there!

Features We Love:
Epiphone PRO P-90 PickupsA pair of Dogear P-90 pickups do that wonderful thing that only P-90 pickups can do! You get that special sound with the bite that cuts through live and in a mix extremely well.

Graph Tech NuBone Nut
While the Casino might be a classic design, Epiphone certainly hasn't left it in the past! The inclusion of this nut keeps it up to date for the contemporary player without losing out on its classic appeal.

Diamond Trapeze Tailpiece
One very distinctive feature on a visual level is the Diamond Trapeze Tailpiece. Working in conjunction with the LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge, it provides great string stability and definitely brings forth a unique and wonderful distinction to the sound.

Who Is It For?
If you've ever thought about owning a semi-hollow archtop guitar then this offers some of the best features around within this price bracket.

Highlights:
  • A classic design favoured by many pros
  • Distinctive sound from the body and pickups
  • Especially good for blues and rock styles

So that would make it around 2002 when you bought it. So inflation calculator says you paid the equivalent of £652.26 >

So in 2023 this is a right bargain.

Good price but the one I had was not nice to play on at all. Felt almost like a toy rather than an instrument, really disappointing as I have wanted one for a long time. The output jack socket also pushed right through into the body on the same day of owning it, at that point I returned for a refund.

At this price point, I can't imagine it's been setup at all. Make a £300 guitar play like a £2000 guitar with a decent setup (and maybe a few upgrades)

I have the drab olive green version, bought it a month before Christmas.
It has been a great guitar, setup was fine out of the box, no issues.
I have a couple of much more expensive USA built guitars so have some experience across a range of guitars.

in my opinion, the current ‘Inspired by Gibson’ Epiphones are excellent mid price guitars. I have 3, an SG Special, a Crestwood Custom and this Casino. I have had no issues other than a couple of sharp fret ends on any of them. Electronics are good, CTS pots do make a difference, Graph Tech nut etc, great sounding pickups.

By comparison, my Gretsch Streamliner had to have the nut changed, and a full setup, and the pots are still rubbish with no taper. Both Squier guitars, which I’ve now parted with had pickup switch failures after a month or two, an output Jack failure, and noisy cheap electronics.

So, based on my experiences, I would recommend any Epiphone in this price point, ymmv. (edited)

In general guitars at this price range are good for the money but they have consistency issues. So you might get a great one but you could also get a dud from the exact same brand and factory run.

Drab Olive is also available for the same price.

Just a note to new guitar players: If you are hunting for a first guitar or an upgrade from your first, do not buy this if you are not 100% sure that this is the type of guitar you need. It is lovely but NOT versatile, for instance the upper fret access is really poor. It's more suitable for earlier blues and rock as you'd expect.

Is there a guitar you would recommend to a new guitarist? I played a bit donkeys ago but it got broke by a drunk mate, never picked it back up because I didn't wanna go through the callouses again. Been wanting to give it a go for a few months now.

I've got a black one. I also have guitars across the price and age range. This has a unique feel compared to my other guitars. Quite a flat thin neck. No gloss anywhere. Quite a dull output from the pickups.
    However, I absolutely love it.
Plays great. Dials in easily and it's easy to get a great range of sounds. The hollow body always wants to resonate and feedback so it's really alive at volume.
Not everyone will like this guitar but if they really tried it, I think it's got something for everyone.
    Bargain.

If I only had £379 to spend on a guitar then I'd be buying an acoustic or a really standard electric - a hardtail Ibanez RG or something. There's too much guitar here for the price, I don't think this is a good idea.

Do you really think someone who wants an electric guitar will be satisfied with an acoustic one? While Ephiphone is not the best value for money, you can easily get a solid sounding electric guitar for this money.
