dalipsinghno1 - did you even bothered looking at the deal or just looked at the price?

so inks and paper will cost you £50? please find me a retailer who sells inks and paper for £50...

I wish I 1) had the need for this, and 2) also had the £949 lying around.

Er....a thousand quid for a printer ? Am I missing something here ?

It's a professional A2 printer, with free ink & paper, it's a good deal.

Actually I missed that and even your figure for the freebie is far less if they are giving what they say.

The Paper is Worth £29

And Inks is worth a whopping £360

So the total freebie is WHOPPING what £389 yes £389 wow hard to believe so if they honor that than then I will eat my words

I think you should put the freebie figures in the title after free ink and paper (worth £389)

do you think they are doing false advertising and that too a product which k. their homepage? id say unlikely...if that was the case then ASA would be on their case...:)

That's one big printer! But £360 for ink? I would want it to be unlimited refills for that!

They are 80ml inks- That's around 10x the size of consumer printers. This is one of the best printers in the Epson large format range, it's a shame Canon don't have anything to match it.

Curious what difference Canon having something like this would make? Better price through competition?

They have the IPF5100 that's a fair bit more expensive, a more industrial machine with Roll feed and Higher capacity inks. More of a competitor to the 4900. The 3880 is good because it seems to be more reliable compared to the 900 series Epsons. It has Canon's entry into the large format machines helped keep the market prices down, with HP not really focusing on the art market now. The 3880 came out in 2009, and without any competition Epson have no reason to update it. It's an ideal machine for people who aren't going to use a heavyweight wide format machine enough, they really need to be used regularly to keep them working.

Canon have the Pro1, which is an interesting machine, but only prints A3 and has small ink cartridges. It does have a gloss optimiser which is interesting and useful. If they stretched the Pro1 and upped the ink cartridge size then Epson would have a competitor to the 3880.
