Refurbished
terrible reviews
Be aware that if you use aftermarket cartridges the printer will argue constantly and often refuse to recognise them. Epson are horrible for this, they've automatically updated teh software in my printer despite it being set to No. When they updated it they reverted the auto-updates to Yes themselves without asking. This made the "You are using non-genuine cartridges" issue even worse. The damn thing asks every day if I want to proceed.... I've got a CISS installed and gallons of ink, so yes I want to damn well continue you annoying XXXXs!!!

Had same issue with Epson in the past
I have an epson xp-305 from about a year or two ago and get the warnings about compatible cartridges as well but it is quite easy to just dismiss them. I also know about the updates designed to stop compatibles being used and have managed to avoid doing so. I did not know that epson could update when the auto-update is set to no though.

I wouldnt touch another epson inkjet, the nozzles get clogged if you use it rarely and then it wont print anything.
Yes my nozzle get clogged similarly but so far have managed to clear them using the clean function(although that uses quite a bit of ink each time). It is not just Epson inkjets which clog if not used regularly, they all do. I had a canon printer which I had to throw away because no amount of cleaning worked.

Yes, but having to dismiss them every day is stupid, it's got to the point where it's now automatic for me to hit the buttons I don't even look at what I'm doing.
The "not recognised" is a scam, and even more annoying since you have to reset them numerous times before it works again.
I didn't know it could update itself either, and Epson denied doing anything...
Can you still use the printer even though you have had the update?
My last Epson also failed after moving house with it. Also struggled to use the WiFi connection on it properly. Refuse to buy HP so what are my options for a cheap all in one with cheap replacement ink?

I get a LOT of notifications of updates from Epson on the Laptop for my WF-2650 All-in-1, but I opt to refuse them all (if it aint broke, don't fix it) As for the warning that I'm not using genuine epson inks?, I THINK I'm asked (when about to perform a print job) if I want to proceed, umm...to save MONEY HELL yes. Cheap (good as gold) compatibles EVERY time fer me
