Seconded. Epson printers don't like non-original inks and the original ones are incredibly expensive. Switched to a Brother colour laser MFP a year ago and it's brilliant. Quality is superb, non-original toner cheap and works perfectly. Yes the printer was £200 to buy but it's an investment. No more messy, clogging ink jets and wasted cartridges. Definitely saves money in the long run for a much better product. Laser all the way!

+1 uses ink like it's going out of fashion compared with my old printer (wish I'd never given that to the charity shop).

I've done 272 pages (129 B&W 143 colour) and so far I've used up all the "setup" ink packs plus 2x std size black and 1x each of std size Cyan, Magenta, Yellow.

Std cart is supposed to give 165 to 175 and I don't think I'm doing more ink usage than the spec (well same printing as my old and was getting more out of cart).

I got this printer when they were doing the cashback deal @ ebuyer.

Multi-function printer. This is what I bought:
viking-direct.co.uk/cat….do?id=3084914&cm_mmc=Google-_-PLA_GEN_GOOGLE-SHOPPING_paper-and-printing-_-Laser-Printers-_-3084914&s2m_channel=544&_%24ja=cgid:16600084457|tsid:34770|cid:242833937|lid:91678036817|nw:g|crid:55356844457|rnd:13471189610568870349|dvc:c|adp:1o2|bku:1&gclid=CjwKEAiA2IO0BRDXmLndksSB0WgSJADNKqqoUHjKGFrrBy3LaFsP8dAUT_ZE6ZyVNAvTlbyxQv2r2hoCb4Hw_wcB
although not from that firm. Price seems to have gone up £30 since I bought it several months ago. Excellent printer / scanner / copier. I'm never ever going back to ink jets.
Brill thanks qwerta369!
I bought this printer 2 months ago from Tesco instore - same price £49.99 - its an ok printer! My compatible inks work fine and only cost 50p each.
Funny. I'm swearing at this same printer this very minute. Good deal on paper, but utterly terrible printer so far as use of ink and ink management in general goes.

I have a another epson and use cheap ink.

Just don't update the firmware on the printer doh

Just to chip in on the Epson inkjet range in general, I have an Epson Workforce Pro 4545, and the amount of pages I get per cartridge is exceptional for an inkjet, but then its a higher end model. The XL original cartridges are also well priced. I think criticisms of inkjet depends on the model - some are much better than others. Clearly this is nearer the bottom of the range of "workforce" printers.

Also, the RRP is made up. This same printer is around £50-60 most other online stores, with the RRP advertised at £80.

people who always insist in printing in colour are wierdos
agree with some of the above. non genuine ink cartridges dont last long at all and the genuine ones last even less time. forever changing cartridges. waste of money.
Ink jets total waste of money. They clog up, the ink hardly lasts at all and drys up if not used frequently. The print quality is also generally poor compared to lasers. Decent laser printers are cheap and if you buy a decent one clone toner works out very cheap as well. Its just stupid to buy these.
