I've been looking for one of these for ages but the price stuck at £100.

Using code - 15PRINTING - the price comes down to just shy of £85.

Not sure if you can get cashback with comet but worth checking.

The price on this printer seems to have tumbled generally, even Epson themselves discounting to £99 now.

what are the main differences between the 585 and the 685?

Yes I just had a look, seems the 685 is slightly geared towards the business user, with 2 paper trays and slightly faster ppm. (epson quotes 585 as having 120 sheets too though).

Power consumption is more on the 685 at 15W vs 20W when printing, and 3.5W for the 685 vs 1.5W in standby mode.

The 585 is smaller, but these 2 are basically the same print engine etc (use the same inks).

i really would recommend the rx 585 anyway, good luck

Great, thanks. I am looking for something to do home snaps on basically, and I'm an Epson "fanboy" so that's half my choice made. I have a Stylus Photo 1290, which is A3, but I have to take it to bits to clean / service it before it is usable again and I just don't have the time. At 70 odd quid, it's very tempting just to buy another. That way I could also dedicate my 1290 to b&w inks when I finally get it going too.

Anyone got instructions to fitting a CISS to the RX685, I'm having difficultly taking off the cover that houses the carts?
