First two paragraphs in description should help I think.
I use this a lot (free version) so good to give something for it. You could just install google opinions and get enough credit doing a few minutes worth of surveys. It's the only way I've ever used to pay for stuff on play store.

I used to like this app, until I found out it sends data back to China. I just use it for local file management now but I'd certainly think twice about adding any cloud service account details to it (Dropbox etc)

I want to give heat for the offer but don't want to promote the app by doing so. It used to be good and I bought it but as everyone said, it's just bloatware now... Sorry OP
Yeah this app seems pretty damn suspect ever since a report concluded it takes user info and sends it regularly to a random server in china. Not good.

Cheers.
Used it be good back in the day and but now even the free version is not worth it. its pretty much a bloatware/spyware.
jobibear18 m ago

Cheers.

You need to enable 'allow unknown sources' in your security settings to install it. Is by far, the best file explorer I have used. Just wish there was a Windows 10 version.

Whilst the deal is good, the app itself is terrible bloatware. I switched to MiXplorer and never looked back.
thanks, i'd been waiting on this to come down in price for my new kindle. the pro version let's me see my files in order of date whilst the free one doesn't. i've also put on mixplorer and that also does it for free
Ice cold, this app is full of junk now. Search for ver 4 of the APK. Free and way better.

I have been using solider explorer for years (defo been worth the £2) and highly recommend it. That MiXplorer looks really good too.

But this? This is garbage.
The paid version has an older ui, but no ads/spyware. If you want a good file explorer though, either pay £2 for solid explorer (14 days free) or get mixplorer off of xda
Interesting read. I've used ES File Explorer & ES App Lock for donkeys years, always saw it as a stellar bit of software, my goto explore, I even went Pro.

I never see any ads, the custom hosts file must address them but as to the calling home to mother I was none the wiser, maybe (hopefully)I have internet permissions blocked but I won't bother looking I'll just delete it straight after this post, I've read enough.

The question in my head now is why is the MiExplorer not hosted on the Playstore? just curious. Wondering also if its a sister app of the old fav MiPlayer, I'll find out shortly after I exit here and dump my Pro ES

Most apps collect basic user data and ping back to the devs for analysis so they can develop the app to improve or make changes as you probably know. Android as an operating system data mines the user at a personal level so it can use the data to suggest a better route home with maps, ask for your opinion on the hotel you stayed at or suggest other goods or services you may be interested in from the profile it has collated from your personal data. Something to think about as you uninstall that app.

Apparently, the Dev had been developing it for years as a side project, as it's free it's become massively popular (especially since ES was bought and corrupted by DU apps) he's focused on it more......

Until some one took it and uploaded it to Gplay as their app under their name, he complained, there was loads of trouble, it was removed but he couldn't upload it with the same name
Great deal. Really handy bit of software with no annoying adverts. Use it all the time for copying files between phone and Nas. Well worth 50p! Voted hot!!!

Do these other file managers people are suggesting have the ability to see video stored on memory pens in routers so that a video player like MXPlayer could play the video on an android device without needing to physically download the file first? Will they also let you move files over LAN to/from a Desktop PC to an android device? These are my reason for using ES File Explorer Pro, and other File Managers I've tried in the past have not allowed this.

Yes
Used to be great. Now bloatware and potentially logging data IMO.
Still, if you want it, dropped to 50p is a deal.

I had the pro version but was referring to the bundle software that's enforced now

Seriously, try mixplorer and you'll wonder why you didn't switch ages ago
Thanks OP for creating the topic
And thanks to others for your helpful comments.
MixPlorer it is!
I had found EX File Explorer to be a bit 'needy'.
Kept pestering me with notifications of all the things it was doing.
None of which I'd asked for.
Used to use ES explorer before it became an ad riddled nightmare, switched to Solid Explorer and never looked back!
Full of crap now.

Try a free/open source explorer like amaze.

Or just you knows pay 50p to support the developer (s) lol

Such an innocent comment. With so many ads they have already minted millions. Buying the app does not appeal them anyone.
For years I used and promoted this product. It was magic. But then (and who can blame him) the developer cashed in on his success to an outfit who have created the playbook for how to destroy a product and shatter its market but just being so, so greedy.

I really hope not too many people have been conned based on its previous record into rewarding these scammers. Scammers? Well read this: androidauthority.com/uni…30/

I'm currently using Amaze. Good, but not as good as the original ES Explorer.
Used to be great but they sold it and even the paid for versions spam you with ads

You couldn't pay me to put this on any device

Looks amazing but is it legit?… why isn't it on the play store?

Also what other apps you know of that are good and not on the play store, is there a good list somewhere?
Yesterday I got an email from Google with a receipt for the purchase of some bollix called Roblox for £184 yes One Hundred and Eighty Four pounds. Are they insane? I don't play games and who the hell would buy one for that amount? Crazy.
