Ok it's not free (yawn all those who vote cold)

One of the better AV products that does not suck your PC dry and doesn't take age's to load up.

Other's I've used including AVG, Norton are a nightmare on resources and slow my old laptop down even further.

CD version was selling for £14.99 the other day, so this works out at £3.33 a PC.

This is good and the price is too.
Kaspersky is better but for Me Eset is a very close 2nd.

Much better price than the one somebody posted the other day for £33.99.

Have a BIG yawn. Cold

Hot from me. Thanks OP just purchased

One of the best av solutions out there. I won't use anything other than eset, this is an excellent price.

Been using Eset Smart Security for years now, top product, and it runs nice even on my 7 year old laptop.

If you must use an internet security package, make it this or Avast.
Kaspersky is NOT better. It, too, tends to slow PCs down a great deal.

Microsoft Security Essentials. .. and stop visiting dodgy websites. Cold Yaawan

Kaspersky certainly doesn't slow down my PC

All paid for internet security gets a cold from me. Download Microsoft security essentials for free, and spend the tenner you've saved.on something else.

Kaspersky is a fantastic solution, it's one of the best suites out there right now. It certainly does not slow down my PC by a "great deal".

Tempted, especially at this price, presumably I could download now but not use it until I am ready to, i.e. in a couple of months time?

Kaspersky IS certainly the best out there and STILL free with all Barclays accounts...

I'm assuming this is subscription for one year?

Kaspersky works just fine without hogging too much CPU. Have it on an i3 and i5 even a freaking celeron and its fine.

Eset Is the best IMO.

Does its job and overall really good.

Microsoft Security Essentials?? Why do people still bother with buying this crap? Just keep the free MSE and don't be a plonka and visit dodgy sites.
Or better yet, get Ubuntu

I had MSE and stopped install other AV for a long time now. Occasionally I had Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool to scan my computer. However, this is really good price. If you really care about this then you might want to look at GDATA.

I can tell you categorically that MS Security Essentials is easily compromised by Malware, I see it time and time again, the only Internet security programs I haven't seen compromised are Kaspersky and Eset. Eset is quite rare though, so I haven't seen enough installs with it to be certain. Kaspersky has always been rock solid, although there's always one gimp out there that whatever you put on the pc will get malware.

AVG
Avast
Panda
Norton
McAfee
Microsoft Security Essentials

All of those I've seen compromised by Malware.

Backup your data, if you get the dreaded Cryptolocker malware then you're screwed.

I could use Kaspersky for free as I have a Barclay's account, but i found it too resource hungry and it used to stop my laptop from accessing the Wifi for some strange reason in the past. It may have improved, but as I've never had any issue with Eset I've stuck with them.

In answer to other queries,
Yes it's a one year licence which you can activate when you like.
It will offer you the chance to update to the latest Eset version, then. I'm currently using a version i bought via a deal on here two years ago, for version 5 and now have V7 currently installed.

Kaspersky is free if you have a barclays bank account

eset any day . kaspersky and norton over commercialised and doesn't compare to eset imo

You must be new to computers. welcome to the internet.

Been using Kaspersky for about 5 years with no problems but may check it out.
Cheers

mine runs out next week, perfect timing thanks

What do people class as 'dodgy' sites? I'll stop visiting YouPron, Epronner and SpankWrie when you tear my keyboard and mouse away from my cold dead hands, thank you very much.

Been using eset since version 4, probably one of the better packages about, not a resource hog unlike a lot of others, daily definition updates too.

What a load of bull.

av-comparatives.org/wp-…pdf

Kaspersky beats Esnet in *all* real world detection tests. 99.4% vs 98.6%

Kaspersky destroys Avast in *all* real world detection tests. 99.4 vs 96.6%

As for performance... av-comparatives.org/wp-…pdf

Avast again, gets annihilated by Kaspersky.

Esnet....actually wins on performance. By a massive 1.1 marks on PCMark - a huge amount that every PC user will notice.
Just for reference - that translates into about 0.5% difference between Kaspersky and Esnet.

Kaspersky is also better at removing viruses (A+ vs A for both of the others).

It's not like this information is easy to find or anything.....

No its easy to find that Kaspersky is £24.99 for the 3 computer professional version amazon.co.uk/Kas…sky

Snake oil. Use a freeware solution.

Fantastic price. I've been using ESET now for over 5 years thanks to it's low system requirements and rock solid performance. I've tried most of the rival products and I find them all to be inferior.

Even better that my current subscription was due to expire in a weeks time, so thanks OP!

Heat!

Antivirus software is often a personal preference, for me it's been Eset (not Esnet) for many, many years now. I tried Kaspersky (probably about 7 years ago), didn't like it, tried Eset and have been using it since then. I don't see any reason to change it unless it becomes a bloatware or significantly decreases in quality/efficiency. There is no point in advertising Kaspersky here, especially using false facts (both Eset and Kaspersky have been awarded with Advanced+, not just Kaspersky).

This is a great deal. I've used eset for about 8-10 years and I have never had a moments problem with it. It would have cost me nearly £40 to renew my 3 user licence on New Years Day so this deal is fabulous.

Has anyone bought this yet? Is it possible to buy 2 and then save the second one to use once the first has expired?

Mint is better still.

I would think "resource hungry" is more personal statement or hardware related... I would call it "feature rich", this is why it uses more resources....
Also for some reason people think that speed/performance depends on CPU you have, which is wrong (partially)...
AV software performance depends most times on how good your HDD is! I am not a fan of Kaspersky, but I can say that is one of the most feature rich AV software's available. So you get a lot of processes running in background which want to access particular files on hdd.. If hdd is old 8mb, 5,4k then more likely your system with this AV will be painfully slow, coz drive won't respond to anything else till AV does it's own stuff.....
Also as somebody mentioned it doesn't matter what AV software you have if you visit dodgy sites, in the end you will get infected.
If you do visit dodgy sites (or need to) best solution is virtual machine no need to worry about infection spread or compromising whole machine

I've trialed and crossed-referenced just about all of them and in recent years Bitdefender has in tests been coming up continuously as offering the best overall protection, closely followed by Kaspersky.

Bullguard, GData and Avira are also pretty good. McAfee is being rebranded as Intel Security and is much improved, especially after the massive problems that they've caused in recent years with faulty updates, etc.

There are quite a few free offerings around that do do a reasonable job such as MSE, Comodo, Avast, AVG and Zone Alarm free internet security, but overall you do seem to get what you pay for just like anything.
