2897652.jpgThis is a brilliant bit of kit, now in the exclusive halo grey colour, with Alexa built in.

$449 works out at £405 including deposits covering tax and customs.

The price you see at checkout, is the price you pay with amazon.

99% of the time you get some of the deposit back, making this even cheaper.
I've had a go of one of these,
and i was genuinely really impressed

Brilliant underrated phone but catching up other flagships lately. All praise to YouTube reviewers. Heat added.
I just wish Essential would sell directly to UK. The demand seems to be there.

my point is adding something relevant showing a breakdown of gbp prices

what was your point exactly
Nice! I looked at these when they announced the Alexa one but Amazons website said it didn't ship to the UK at the time. Glad to see they've dropped that restriction! There was rumours of this coming to the UK, disappointed it didn't as for the price it looks like an awesome bit of kit! Here's hoping v2 gets an official UK release if it ever appears

Aww ok.. Sorry about that, I'll edit the post now with a breakdown of costs.
I was simply asking a question!

Are you joking?
I'm surprised they are doing this now with new colours instead of releasing their 2nd gen device. They openly admitted the way their screen was made that there is a high ratio of non responsive touches.

They've released a few updates now to try and fix this exact problem, they are very regular with their updates.

I'm pretty sure it was a hardware issue rather than a software issue?

I did want one because it is one stunning looking device but I couldn't risk it.
Just be aware there is no warranty. If something goes wrong Essential will deal only with a US address. They confirmed it. Amazon said I need to deal with Essential

I'm sure I've just read recently that they have released another update for this issue. Maybe you're right

“Ships from and sold by Amazon.com”

If it’s faulty, it’ll be going back and Amazon will be paying the shipping. Same as usual.

I am just saying what Amazon said. After 30 days if something goes wrong it needs to be sent to Essential
As much as personally also I wished they had released this in the UK market also, I wouldn't touch one without a warranty. Wide spread issues with build quality had been reported in the US which would be seriously worrying buying without the warranty.

Reddit Q&A also and talks about the gen2 device.

They didn't do the tear down correctly. Essential already replied to the comments (which in all fairness was pretty impressive to provide those details in a public forum - pity iFixit didn't review again afterwards) and was in the Reddit Q&A I linked to above. The only frightening part of the reply was, they will not sell any spare parts to consumers.

"We currently don't sell parts to consumers but do offer a competitive extended warranty plan. My team and I are always hoping to make our devices as easily repairable as possible while trading off the sleek and elegant design aesthetic"

I liked this article about how few Essential phones were sold (which presumably imperils updates and support):

I'm referring to Amazon's exchange rate
Over £400 for a phone that don't even come with warranty I would rather pass.
