Cook at home with the simple and reliable silver Essentials CFSESV14 Electric Solid Plate Cooker.

Ample capacity

Despite its large 69-litre oven that's big enough for large family feasts, this cooker still manages to fit into compact spaces thanks to its 50 cm width.

In addition to a conventional oven it houses an electric grill that provides an additional way to cook your food. You'll be able to grill with the door open, which makes it easy to keep an eye on how your food is cooking.

Solid plate hob

The hob has four solid plates that are simple to control and provide a stable heat source for boiling, frying and simmering.

Voted hot, good price for a basic cooker. However, it's reaaally inconvenient to not have a separate grill and oven, so be aware if you're considering this.

We do a lot of home cooking and I cannot remember the last time we needed the oven and the grille at the same time!?

Bigger issues with "one space" oven/grills is that the door often has to be open for the grill to work and it's big and gets in the way (and isn't ideal if you have kids or pets?)

They do a Gas version for around this price too I think - Gas always > Electric unless you have no Gas connection I guess?

I have this model, £150 is the normal price " (£229.99 From 02/07/14 to 31/07/14)" if you see they increased the price to £229 just for a month! the cooker is a real starter home/student type model, works OK though. the main problem for me, is the hob it is completely uncontrollable if you make it too hot and the pan boils over, then turn it down it takes about 5 min for the heat to reduce, still, got me out of trouble when I moved and was on a tight budget, now I'm looking for a better model. note it is 50cm wide, not the normal cabinet size 60cm.

Not sure why the "!" as though what I said was strange or something. I do a decent amount of home cooking and have the grill and oven on together almost all the time, if not for actual grilling then for keeping food warm or for warming the plates. I didn't realise just how much I use it until I was on holiday in a place with one of these single cavity oven/grills. I suppose if it's what you're used to though, then it might not be an issue.

@ solidamber, good point re 50cm width. My last cooker was a basic Beko with the hot plates hob and it was 50cm wide. The hob width was actually okay for most saucepan cooking, but it was a nuisance when using a wok as you couldn't fit anything else on the hob at the same time - you also had to cook on the front rings then which isn't ideal if you have small children around. Also, it means that the oven is a good bit smaller though you should still be able to fit a turkey in at christmas, albeit nothing else in there too! I agree that the slow reaction of the hot plates is a negative, especially if you are used to the instant reaction of gas. However, you do get used to it and learn to move pans off the hotplates when you need to reduce heat. The one good point about them, is that they hold their heat for ages so you can turn them off a good five minutes earlier than usual to finish cooking. Having just criticised them, my lovely Zanussi cooker has a ceramic hob and I wish that I had known before how time consuming they are to keep new looking, I would actually go back to the hotplates now if I could.
