Love this stuff thanks op
Is it the original Spanish Estrella or poor quality(but unfortunately official) copy made in the UK? There is a HUGE difference.
Not in my tesco extra, still £12.

Not really, sometimes you can find original Spanish. If not, I can recommend Portugese Sagres, as good as Estrella and usually original available.
If this so called "Estrella" tastes like Stella Artois, why bother? Just go for Stella. Unless Estrella Artois ;-) is cheaper, of course.
£10 in Asda
There is only one worthwhile Estrella beer, and that's Estrella Galicia
Is it brewed in the uk or spain?

Will be tasetless if brewed in the uk like any other lager
Estrella Damm is always brewed in Barcelona, never in the UK. However they do brew a 4.6% variant for export to the UK, presumably for import duty reasons. The version you would drink in Spain is 5.4%. Estrella Galicia is a totally different beer from a different brewery. The word "Estrella" is spanish for "Star" and is a frequently used term in branding/marketing for Spanish products and services. In my opinion the 4.6% variant is decent enough in comparison to the 5.4% version, and I recently spent 3 months working in Barcelona so I drank my fair share of it!

EDIT: Also I agree with the comment regarding Portuguese beers, both Sagres and Super Bock are very good and can usually be bought in supermarkets over here.

Thanks for the clarity. Beers being lowered in ABV for tax reasons is really annoying, I just want the original versions!

But this is still worth it having had a moan :-)
