    It is a personal choice.

I am happy with this device. Saved few missed deliveries while we were away and good battery life without any subscription.

I bought it about 8 months ago via a similar deal posted here by someone else.

This was my way to give back to the hukd community (edited)

So as far as I heard (from LTT?) the issue is only partially fixed. It cannot be properly fixed as that required a hardware change. Hence the reason people we pushing for the HomeBase 3 to be supplied to existing customers FOC. (edited)

Thanks OP. I am a fan of Eufy products. 2 cameras and Homebase and it has been absolutely brilliant so far since black Friday. I was worried about the very unlikely event of someone stealing a camera or pressing the reset button.
So bought on ebay two camera housings with little chain, like little bird box that encloses the camera. Then bought off ebay 2 solar panels that plugs into cameras to keep the battery topped up and two white gutter mounts, to put the solar panels on.
The solar panels and its lead come in black or white. As my gutter is white I wish now that I had bought the white version. However the camera housing boxes are black too.
As to privacy, anything linked to "the cloud" is just marketing hype, that is akin to your computer hard wired into someone else's computer and they can see all your data if they wish to.

Mine is inconsistent but still good for the price.  Doesn’t always pick up people walking by and sometimes cuts the recording short even on max sensitivity.  Other days it picks up everything.  Battery isn’t bad but wish we had it wired.

They have the homebase 3 out now. Any significant difference why I should or should not get this with the old homebase 2? Already have a wired eufy floodlight camera (without homebase)

Expandable storage (that could be handy) and AI recognition of people (supposedly won't ping you for friends or neighbours)

Ha, I don't need the base just the doorbell but it rarely ever goes on sale on it's own. This price for both doorbell and base is cheaper than a solo doorbell unit :/

Might pick it up and just keep the base as a spare or try to flog it on ebay...

Got this plus solocam l40, p24,c24,entry /motion sensor.

    Can't fault it.

Mine is also very inconsistent. Some data picks up everything others nothing. Wouldn’t recommend

If I'm to put Eufy branded cameras & doorbell after all this saga and leaks, everyone will instantly know level of my tech standard . So never to Eufy!

I got this doorbell and the matching camera 18 month ago, ish… I returned them not long after because there were too many occurrences where they just didn’t detect motion.

Really annoying, because when they did work, the speed at which I got notifications vs Ring was phenomenal!

How do you recharge the doorbell?
I don't have any electrical wiring to my front door so am forced to go for a wireless / battery option.
    Thanks.

Oh by the way, what version do I need?
I don't need or care about a 2nd camera for detecting parcels, and I'm not fussed about 2k (1080p is perfectly fine IMO).
I would however like to have as much storage as possible (is it expandable)?
And as stated, it needs to be wireless.

    Thanks in advance.

From what I know the base has 16 GB storage for the video storage and is not expandable. However, it still you will find steps online how to auto upload all videos to Google drive using RSTP (not confident of the tech terminology as I don't use this feature).

I just remembered someone mentioned that the newer base version 3 has expandable storage. However that is sold separately and is not part of the product being sold by Costco mentioned in this deal.

I would recommend 2K minimum. I would rather prefer 4k of it was available at reasonable price point.

This one doesn't have colour night vision. If you can find one I would highly recommend getting a camera with colour night vision capabilities.

Recharging is very easy. I you remove the camera from the mount (using a pin provided by Eufy) and use the micro USB cable that comes in the package. (edited)
