Did some digging, definitely cant get over the security flaw with their door cameras.

If you just want a video doorbell with 2 way audio it's still a good option. But I specifically want to be able to record data as a deterrent.

No I don’t often check how many hours or days ago it was posted! But likewise you should have checked to see if it had expired

Anyone know how easy this is to steal? I am not dodgy :shifty:ps3ud0

You would see them stealing it if motion detection is on. This is pinged directly to your phone and you would be able to see it in relative real time. They would need a small pin to release it from its cage so like anything fairly easy to steal but pointless really. Not sure why anyone would want to steal them as value is minimal and you run the risk of having your face plastered all over social media with the words “Thieving scumbag”

No sub fees unless you choose to upload to their cloud.

Not difficult to steal, but images are stored on the indoor chime unit (SD Card).

    Easy to steal.

    Easy to reset.

Easy to wipe any data with a reset.

Stealing the doorbell also wipes any data.

    Needs a fundamental redesign.

But - it’s a doorbell. If you want home security then there are better solutions.

All footage is stored on an SD card in the chime, so footage wouldn't be lost

Is the upgrade to the 2k cam over 1080p worth it?

Thanks OP, bought on Thursday for £104.99, webchat wouldn't agree to refund the difference, so sending mine back and ordered at lower price..!

Thanks for that. I think for me it's more, unlike Ring, it would cost me again to buy the unit even if I had evidence of the theft it's unlikely anything would be done.

I just don't want to spend twice where I can avoid it.

    Thanks

Was going to bite until I saw this. I don't even want a doorbell, I just want a subtle camera with the same kind of FOV that can store data on my nas. Not sure what to go for.

I sold my Google Nest Doorbell to replace with this. As good camera. Wider angle actually. And unlimited storage locally (inside the house not the doorbell). Has a chime you plug in which is ideal. And I believe it can signal Alexa or Google Home to chime too(?). Perfect for me and cheaper than Google - which doesn't store any footage (longer than 3hrs ago) unless you pay.

I'm on my second one at the moment, support are sending out a third. It's great when it works but mine have worked for a day or so and then, no motion detects/ no doorbell chime (inside)/ no doorbell notifications - the fix for me is turn the chime unit off and back on again and then it all works for another day or so - this works until you are away at work/ holiday and can not power cycle the device.
The support team says I have a defective unit but I'm a little skeptical as this is now the second one they have sent out - I must say the support team have been good even though the product has not been so good. Lets see what the third is like, fingers crossed!

This one has a micro SD card. I thought that the only models that were immune to the issue were the micro SD card models?

From what I could tell their whole range was impacted by this 'feature', as their technology was built with encryption to work in a certain way, and by resetting a camera the encryption key is lost. That means it can't properly be fixed without a full overhaul of the encryption portion of the software (I'm guessing)..

.. but don't remember reading about micro sd specifically. If you can find any info showing otherwise would be useful to see.

Thanks for pointing this out. Have been looking at doorbell/security camera options and Eufy was rising to the top until you pointed this out. Incredible really, nothing done about it and no worthwhile response since Jan 2021. Appalling.
