sorted byYes, I picked up a £8 solar panel and its been 100% battery 🔋 ever since
This blink is terrible
Where did you get the £8 panel from if you don't mind, thanks. The cheapest I've found was about £13 and usually over £20.
I think Blink are ok for a budget, wireless, battery camera which is easy to set up. If you want to spend more money then I am sure there are better choices.
Downside is that you will be changing the two AA lithium batteries a few times a year, so make sure you can access them fairly easily with a ladder etc. I don't quite know how anyone would get up to the two years claimed battery life.
Oh the irony.
Or just pull it off the wall.
You get local storage inside your house with some, if not all Eufy devices.
With regards to your last paragraph, it makes sense what you say. However if the camera is very high up, it can't be reached. Also, the perpetrator will not know if you don't have cloud storage backup on top of the card inside the camera, so may not take the risk.
Was a bit sceptical about the 3.5w but they work like a charm, just have to change the settings to solar (edited)
I just don't understand why anyone would have an anti theft device with onboard storage
I would be the market here - quite privacy conscious re: data and would never buy indoor/outdoor cameras with cloud storage as I have no view as to who can access my feed + storage. there are always bugs and vulnerabilities, and these are only the ones that hit the press
e.g.
androidpolice.com/202…as/
The police in the US can request access to data and feeds and I would bet UK forces are doing the same..
My ideal set up would be a device like this syncing to a drive connected to my network but not the internet. So yeah.. I'm not fan of onboard storage but I'm even less of a fan of cloud storage...
Any camera will be some deterrent. Battery onboard storage useful if they cut the wifi cable or power. Extra security for doors and windows more important. They did a local down the road by cutting a hole in the front door.
Tjanks.I think is the £12-13 with the postage included. I was debating about that one, I was hoping I can get it from ebay with free postage, but it was more expensive.
How cheap are the ones with cloud storage and any recommendations, please?
Hi - I have my blinks on a schedule to record at night only as I am home all day - 2 of the Blink XT's are on batteries from 2020 - the ones that came with the camera - probably 2-3 activations per night - cats/birds etc - never miss a beat and really pleased with them.
Dave
can you link me to a solar panel please? I have 2 Eufycam 2c's that could do with a SP
That particular Eufy issue related to people being able to access other peoples recordings stored on the camera itself and not in the cloud.
a disadvantage of it being internet connected. cloud storage security also (and always) a concern
Don't have any concerns about my ring cameras having footage stored in the cloud they use multiple layers of encryption.
I found blink cameras have better motion detection but Eufy Picture quality is much better!
thogiht the l20 isn't solar panel compatible due to the difference between micro usb and usbc. Is there some adaper to connect to a solar panel? (edited)
