Thought some of you can benefit from this if your travelling in Europe. I have one and its a nice safety net to have incase. Free to all.

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows you to get state-provided healthcare in all European Economic Area (EEA) countries and Switzerland at a reduced cost or sometimes free of charge.

Yes thats where I heard too hahaha.
Thanks for posting OP, as I needed the reminder to get an updated one sorted out.
Thanks
Thanks...mine is due for renewal...heat added...
Thanks. Worth checking your expiry date as it needs renewing quite often.
Thanks mine arrived last week off to Amsterdam soon
many thanks
Check the renewal dates, these things only last a couple of years unlike the old E111 that this replaced
Thanks I threw mine out by mistake lol.
thanks
Thanks a lot, that was really useful as I'd forgotten it needed renewing
Just checked mine and am ok till the end of 2014. Good heads up for those who don't know. Head added
Thanks for the reminder about expiry - mine's good til 2016.
You need to be careful when ordering this card. They are free of charge but there are a lot of suspiciously named websites that will make it seem that there is a charge. All these sites are doing is charging you for checking that you have entered the correct details - don't be suckered in. The questions are basic - name, address, date of birth, national insurance number - simples. There is no need to pay anyone up to £16.99 to check this out for you. Good reminder OP. :-)
Thanks mine have just expired

Thanks.

That's because some private company gets more money selling the plastic to the government more often... and a bit overpriced as all deals with the government.

i looked at my card the other day and though i'd better renew it (thanks for for reminding me!)
great find! def heat added. last yr mrs had an injury on a ski trip and we had to pay 1,000EUR to the French hospital up front, it would have been cut down to 20%(i think?) if we had EHIC. Although our travel insurance covered it anyway, I would have rather had to only front up 200EUR on the day - my theory is that any upfront money that leaves ur pocket carries a risk of it not coming back lol.
Thanks alot, applied.
Thanks will get one soon
Any Quidco available?
thanks
worth having and dont travel without!

EHIC Cards last for 5 years and you can renew again within 6 months of the expiry date for another 5 yrs
Its a FREE service so dont pay anyone on any website for these cards.
Use the dwp / gov website or nhsbsa website to apply or ring 0845 606 2030 to apply or replace
