BFN,

Seriously, what are they playing at with the PSone classics? All the great old PSone games that have been released in Japan/USA and we get none of them? What's the deal?

PS. A response to the first comment in the Official European PlayStation Blog about "Castle Crashers":

I will know more tomorrow so I will update you all with a comment and let you know how I got on.

Thanks FP.

Copyright & licensing issues are probably to blame, plus local European laws regarding content.

If the Japanese titles are being localised then Europe almost always finds a delay because our Store supports multiple languages whereas as the North American territories just cater for (US) English.

Multiple language support results in longer Quality Assurances processes too.

The European Store also did not get all the discounts on the back catalogue of "Tomb Raider" titles, and we did not get a "Halloween" price promotion either

Meh, not seeing much I'd jump at. Last time round the MGS Portable Ops was alright, but the PSP Avatar is still overpriced.

Yes, nothing really of interest to me this week either unless I opt to buy "Cuboid" in order to take advantage of the discounted Game Packs.

Oh well, I could do with saving money anyway!

I'll definitely be downloading the "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" demo though, & I also need to buy some PlayStation Move hardware as I'm looking forward to the next "Time Crisis" title (& the two associated titles included on the Blu-ray Disc) as well as "The Fight[: Lights Out]".

BFN,

fp.

so where's the bargains????

Nothing of interest again for me this week. Thanks again anyway fp for the usual update.

I don't know about all the games we are missing, but the RE titles have not arrived yet due to licensing problems. Vampiric_Hoshi, on the PS EU Forums summarised the issue pretty well:

Res Evil isn't on the UK/Euro PSN because of a licensing issue.

Basically, Resident Evil 1 and 2 were published in the UK and Europe by Virgin Interactive and not Capcom, and Res Evil 3 was published by Eidos and not Capcom.

However, Virgin Interactive no longer exists (it was purchased by a French company) and Eidos have been purchased by Square Enix. So Capcom and Sony are endlessly passing the buck between themselves saying that the other company needs to sort out the licensing issue with neither willing to take the legal responsibility because it would obviously cost them money.

My advice would be to get a US PSN card, and download the PS1 classics from their store. They actually have RE: Director's Cut on offer this week - for $4.99 - as part of their 15th Anniversary promotion.

blog.us.playstation.com/

The EU PSN store is very strange when it comes to licensing agreements - there are a couple of PS1 games I managed to purchase on release, which have since been pulled by the publishers - namely Bishi Bashi Special and Silent Hill.

I did see that RE:DC is on US PSN for $4.99, shame it isn't here as I would have had that.
PS1 games look pretty good on the PSP although you have to be careful that you buy ones with simple control designs otherwise you can get your fingers in a right old tissy trying to emulate the PS controller.

Any of these worthwhile for using the Move controller with - just bought one so might as well pick up some toys for it Noticed the Time Crisis Demo and will have to have a look at that one methinks!

thanks for the heads up .

It looks like the "Pumpkin Head" available on 6 November 2009:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2556/4058765441_903b16f81b_o.png

(When I view the item in the "Latest" section of PlayStation Store I can see the icon in the bottom right of the image 'tile' that indicates I have already downloaded this).

PS. "Time Crisis™: Razing Storm™ Demo (Playable)" (928 MB)

"This demo supports the PlayStation® Move motion controller, the DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller and the G-con™3 controller"

Also, "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Official Demo (Playable)" is a 1581 MB download.
