exclusively for Eurostar Plus Points or Eurostar Frequent Traveller members. ????

You just have to sign up to the scheme I think. I have an account and no points at all!

p.s if anyone wants a hotel recommendation for somewhere low cost I can help out. I visit Paris a lot

Just been looking at other dates and there are single fares from £20 non exclusive. However I wouldn't travel on Eurostar Standard unless I had to. I read reviews between the differences of Standard and Standard Premier and most stated that it wasnt worth paying the extra £20-£50. I was lucky enough to get a Standard Premier cheaper than Standard. I then got on the wrong carriage by mistake that happened to be a Standard , it was dirty, people standing all over and generally looking like something out of India. Fortunately I found my Standard Premier carriage and there was an instant improvement. Clean, no one standing, lots of room and a meal to boot.
I would definitely pay the extra to upgrade if that was anything to go by.

Can anyone provide confirmation of dates with this price because I can't find any!

It's only for work, so not at all glamorous!

Anyone actually able to provide examples, pretty sure it's no a deal if you can't actually show some dates ? Happy to be proven wrong that they are all more expensive

I don't know about Euro Disney. Only time I went we stayed in one of the resort hotels (the cheapest!) which was no great shakes, but it did the job. I just visited Paris and stayed in The Rudyard Kipling Hotel, which was really cheap and superb quality. It's a bit of a find. Rooms are small, but you're not in them long for a short break. Two minutes from the Moulin Rouge (so, close to Montmartre, Sacre Coeur etc) and five minutes from the Metro. Anywhere more central and the price shoots up, and it's not really necessary as the city is so small that everywhere is easy to access by Metro. This place is newly renovated and the breakfast was amazing. Kept me going all day. I booked it through Eurostar - their train and hotel packages are excellent value if you miss this deal. Anyway, thought I'd post as it might be useful for someone. I am not affiliated to them in any way, just had a great stay :-) en.kipling-hotel.com/

See above for my recommendation on accommodation. Like I said, you can't beat Eurostar for travel and hotel combined. I got three days over there for about £170 recently - hotel and return travel. Even if you just use their hotel suggestions it's helpful, but I doubt you'd get them cheaper going direct. Worth a try.

As for how many days, it's a tough question. If you want to visit the classic tourist sites you could probably do it in three days, but bear in mind that there is always a lot of walking when sightseeing in Paris. Because it's small it's not worth getting the Metro, so you end up walking a lot, which can mount up, so wear trainers!

Check the Time Out online guides (Weekend in Paris on the Cheap timeout.com/par…eap AND 48 hours in Paris timeout.com/par…urs ) which have some great suggestions. Personally I would avoid The Louvre - it is just too big and busy to get much out of it. The smaller Musee D'Orsay on the Left Bank is nicer, with some beautiful Impressionist paintings. Musee Montmartre is tiny and charming too. Renoir painted one of his most famous paintings there and stashed it in the shed till he got round to finishing it.

This is a pretty good price for a return journey. I don't think I've ever seen it this cheap for return.

you can split the journey if Euro star hike their prices at half term and change at Lille Europe, then get on a TGV service to euro disney. Did this last may and was very easy, and alot cheaper than what europ star were quoting direct. Lille Flanders is only a 10 min walk away from lille europe, where you can also get TGV trains to euro disney as well...HTH

It only takes one journey to realise how crap Standard is but Im guessing your a standard person.

Worth going in Jan in the cold to save £30 per person or wait till April for better weather (£69 pp return)...

Thanks for sharing!

No, I have traveled all classes in 43 countries. I am used to roughing it backpack style but also like 5*. I just expect more from a Western Europe travel company. Standard Premier seats can be found on deals quite often the same price or cheaper than Standard but I also think its worth paying the bit extra if not for the upgrade.

Still some available when I looked just now, 5th Jan to 8th Jan and others?

Has anyone actually managed to book 2 tickets at £20 each way? Travelling at decent times. Not arriving middle of the afternoon and leaving 2 hours later to come home? It is a silly offer.

I am not sure why you had to mention India in there. Neither this is a forum to discuss which country does the best or worst trains, nor to see how many countries GREAT you have traveled so far to find that out. I am hoping if you look like one you are named, then you are treated like an animal to make you realise how it feels to be insulted just because you are poor on something.

Yep - 7am train on the Thursday, returning on the 3.10pm train Saturday. So hardly a silly offer.

And booked a great hotel through Hotwire, in the latin quarter for £60/night.

This looks great! Groucho m thank you so much for sharing your information, really really helpful.

Off to try to book!
