if you read up, the 290x flash is hit and miss

no games nothing. Cooling can be quiter and better by using MSI afterburner and adjusting the fan controller the right way and always with a couple of extra controlled fans on the side of the case. It makes a huge difference. The good thing is that it takes only 2 slot spaces and you do not need to worry about adding any extra pci etc.. devices on other slots as the fan is at the other side of the card

Flashing is hit and miss so don't base your purchase off that, it's just a bonus!

This is a loud and power hungry card, read some reviews before buying! It's a good price so heat

Now £292!!

voted hot because the price is good for the card but that aside it's not really worth the money. Power consumption is high, and the noise can be an issue. That being said, what gamer doesn't have a good PSU or a set of headphones?

The main reason not to get this is the sheer stupidity AMD has when it comes to drivers. Ridiculously bad.

You could only flash a certain batch of 290 cards, mainly from XFX and Powercolour.

If you can afford this, you can afford £60 more for the MSI 780 on Scan today only.

Far better card.

I was in the same dilemma, went for the 7990 as Amd are still tweaking their drivers and performance may increase still yet!
LtMatt @ Ocuk has also provided a modded bios which helps stop the card from throttling.

Expecting mine monday!

The 780 runs cooler, quieter, and is more efficient, yes. But purely in terms of graphics performance, this card is superior.

Original Poster

Can it run Crysis? Of course it can probably on ultra/high settings! Just will be a bit loud but inside a well vented case I doubt you'll hear it too much, or i'd hope

Msi R9 290X non reference? videocardz.com/482…red
from what I've seen but not seen any coolers for it, wont how much they will retail for or non reference's in general, hopefully they stay way below the 780ti to give AMD the better price bracket and out do Nvidia based on this.
