Evercade Retro Handheld Console

I'm still very undecided on this but I did notice that Argos have marginally the cheapest price for the Evercade retro handheld basic model. (amazon £59.99)

They are also cheap on 3 of the game cartridges at £11.99 each (usually 14.99). They are Namco Collection 2, Interplay 1 and Atari Collection 1.

Not for everyone (not sure its for me) but I have been interested in this so thought I would point it out.

Nice spot, thank you.

Just cancelled my Amazon pre-order and reserved for collection at my local Argos tomorrow morning. Didn't expect to see any drop on price for the console or games so very pleased

Yes same for me. Only Namco 2 working at £11.99.

This looks like a great idea but watching some reviews there seems to be sound issues. If these can get fixed I will definitely get one.

[UPDATE] It appears that the sound and button mapping issues have been fixed via an update. Ordered. Heat added

Not judging either way on this, but anyone looking at this might want to look at some of the other handhelds out there, ODROID GO, PocketGo, etc.

They may be a lot more flexible, but there is still the question of sourcing the ROMa.

A quick look on YouTube might help. A guy called ‘ETA Prime’ would be a good jumping off point.

The RK2020 looks kinda decent. It's about £62 shipped (then maybe Tax on top).
The latest buzz is RG350M

I’ve only seen ETA Prime’s review of it, where he says it’s a shameless pirate of the ODROID GO Advance.
But that aside it does look very good!

Yep, this looks the nuts

Easier to mod the vita now then?

Some sellers give you a SD card full of roms I got hundreds in all of the rom folders short of ps1, with a few here and there that fail to work but they have a history if not working with emulators like legacy of goku 2.

Shame it tops out at PS1 emulation though. Any recommendations on a handheld which will manage N64 & Dreamcast emulation? I'm happy hacking something...

As far as i’m aware, PS1 is just about doable on these type of systems.
N64 is just a nightmare to use perfectly, Dreamcast can be tricky too.
I don’t have any hacking knowledge alas.
Most I’ve done is soft mod a Wii.
I’d love an all in one handheld, decent screen etc and the RG350M seems to be the best on the market.
They’re updating all the time, so who knows, in another couple of months they may have an even more advanced one

I am pretty simple when it comes to IT and got it modded with a few hiccups.

Any links to where you got your guidance mate?

What is the ODROID Go like? Nice to use? Just looked at a review of the RG350m, but that seems pricey for something I might not use much compared to the first.

Thanks
The rk2020 by the looks of it has decent, dreamcast emulation. The rg350m is better constructed and put together, but ps1 probably is the max at emulation. The rk2020 looks promising, although they are using emulelec, and since they kind of cloned the ODA i doubt the images for the ODA will work on the rk2020 as it also has less buttons etc..
Like others commented already the RG350M is an excellent portable retro console but pricey at moment. Play go or powkiddy q80 are good cheaper alternatives.
Taki udon and ETA Prime are good channels for retro gaming consoles

You could use an android phone and a Bluetooth controller with a clip. Not as sleek as an all in one device but you'll have access to more devices. I've been using the citra 3ds emulator on my phone and amazed how well it works!

Dolphin emulator app runs perfectly for GameCube (and pretty good for some Wii) titles on my phone.
If you're after more impressive looking games on the go, I'd recommend you look into this instead of these devices.
The Redream emulator app runs Dreamcast games to a high standard as well.

You'll need a fairly decent phone though. You don't need to pay a lot though. The budget priced Pocophone F1 is a gaming powerhouse! It's what I use.

I have a Vita and 3DS both modded. I also have owned various android handheld and dubious knock-offs. But for me at the moment the Vita is the best option. Vita = vita/psp, scummvm, amiga, quake, doom and loads and loads of emulators. However what I like with the Evercade is the game packaging is awesome and the original game creators and owners get a few quid as well.
This is crap
Waiting for the gpd xd 2. Was supposed to be out soon, but that was pre covid.
