Thats down to poor management by staff. My OH worked on the plants and flowers dept before she retired in January..She is a very passionate about gardening and all the plants were well looked after when she was at work,it was when she was on her days off that things went unwatered and neglected.
But all the blame can't lie at the staffs door..because supermarkets don't take many staff on anymore they have them running about from dept to dept so things get left as there is no staff a lot of the times.

Are Lavatera evergreen?

How high will they grow to ?

Thanks

For the shade question, I've an Aucuba in my garden against a N-facing fence with the little sun it gets stolen by a rampant grape vine and a big tree. It does fantastically well and is also very low maintenance. No flowers, but a decent bushy plant that hasn't got leggy.

I'm probably going to try to get a white camelia to keep it company, got another thriving against the west fence, so the soil must be acid enough. That's years of good old London acid rain for you!

Strangely, RHS suggest full sun for Choisya.

Camellias have nice flowers but, mine always seem to go yellow and die off quickly,

Also have an Aucuba growig in full shade, clay soil ,( north side of garden in a corner)
