How many of these films are actually IMAX though? Having seen The Last Jedi in IMAX which was "select scenes filmed in IMAX" the picture was pretty ropey although the sound was excellent.
Can't find details about this on the website.

The only thing I could see on there, listed all the movies, and seemed to be suggesting that everyone SHOULD watch them all before the new movies come out?

This link seems to be the list of back to back showings, with just the two locations (search for marvel studios) :

I saw a few of the early Marvel movies in IMAX and they look and sound fantastic even though they wouldn't have been filmed on IMAX cameras, they're mastered for IMAX.

However there aren't that many real IMAX theatres in the UK so, what is often present as IMAX is usually a lame version of real IMAX (often referred to as LIEMax).

The Sheffield Cineworld has a real IMAX though.

Probably because they're Cineworld's only real IMAX screens. I know the Sheffield one definitely is.
The Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater is also doing this:

Shame there aren't more cinemas doing this. My closests is a 3hr drive

Wrong. Glasgow science centre.

Also, all of the listings I tried show Edinburgh, not Aberdeen....

My mate in Aberdeen says Cineworld don't have an iMax there.

ugh.

cineworld sheffield is DIGITAL IMAX just like every other IMAX at Cineworld.

No Cineworld cinemas play 70mm.

If you want a proper IMAX experience go to BFI or Glasgow Science Centre.
You aren't kidding about selected cinemas
Also on at Empire Birmingham Great Park; Vue Leeds Kirskstall; and Odeon Cardiff, Manchester Trafford Centre and Swiss Cottage.

The Vue in Manchester Printworks is also 70mm IMAX for relevant films (pretty much only Christopher Nolan at this point) and I think might be the biggest screen in the UK.
All the geeks will be going mental over this this !!
On in Edinburgh (Fountainpark) too. It's easier if you just go to your local cinema's page and check dates from 28th Sept - 2nd Oct. looks like there's 4 or 5 each day. £3.70 here, and £3.40 if you've got Unlimited.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
It's £3.70 in Sheffield for non plus customers
There's been 53 Marvel films... that's alot of screen time
If we're just talking MCU though there's been 20, only £60 to watch them all

Glasgow Science Centre has been Digital IMAX not long after Cineworld took it over.
No need. I can watch on Blu Ray on MyMax at home.

Cold. I got my own IMAX experience right here.

Just kidding - great find! Voted HOT

It's 4K Laser projector, whilst the other digital ones are 2K Xenon. The dual 4K system is a replacement to 15/70 Film projectors, whilst the resolutions isn't as good as the film projectors, things like the colour and contrast are meant to be much better.

Although, I haven't seen an IMAX movie for years as I'm based around Birmingham and ours switched from IMAX to a 4K system and then closed down. So I'm a convert to 4DX.
For those not in the know, how can a cinema advertise as IMAX when not 'proper' IMAX, what's the difference..

I've sat through an IMAX film, I think, at the Science Museum at least that's how it was advertised
Is it Friday the 28th only?
Whilst there is an IMAX screen in Northern Ireland, the owner had a dispute (he wanted to show regular films on the screen), so IMAX shut him down (official story is he went bankrupt). No one else has bothered, especially since there appears to be less that 171 people have signed the petition to have it re-opened! facebook.com/Pet…48/
What a waste - only an IMAX "lite" in Dublin (small screen version)

Anyway - thanks for the heads up, heat added- kinda glad it's not available locally as the young 'uns would be pestering me to take them!
Ok sussed it! Worked out £7.40 for two tickets IMAX 3D 🏻

You say no Cineworld plays IMAX 70mm, and then say if you want proper IMAX go to BFI or Glasgow Science Centre.

Glasgow Science Centre is Cineworld tho?

Since cineworld took over the science centre in Glasgow, they also removed the 70mm projectors I went to see interstellar there but was told they no longer do 70mm
I clicked on the link.

I then clicked on Iron Man

It says that I can watch it at Edinburgh or Sheffield

The post states Sheffield or Aberdeen (NOT Edinburgh)

I then tried a few random other films and again, Edinburgh or Sheffield

Cold for me. Only two cinemas - also you have to book individual tickets. I think they've missed a trick by offering a "pass" which allows you to see all the films for a single price.
Only 2 cinemas??? Wtf?
I'd be interested to see an Imax film trailer but I'd not be interested in actually going to see a full film. Rather watch at home with headphones. Why would you not want to? Stop, start, rewind, pause frame, frame by frame, eat my own food and beer / spirits, use my own toilet, listen and watch in peace, turn volume down at music and up at lines. Damn i can even turn vol up if I'm eating something noisy like Doritos.
