Good quality, branded power supply with ample wattage for just about anything. This is only the GQ series not the G2 or even G3 but it's still a good power supply, is semi-modular and well-reviewed. Also a great price, I just paid £120 for a used one from Amazon Warehouse and then saw this new today. Only £6 more than the 850W.

  • EVGA 1000 GQ - "Great Quality, Great Value"
  • 80 PLUS Gold certified, with 90% (115VAC) / 92% (220VAC~240VAC) efficiency or higher under typical loads
  • Fan Size / Bearing: 135mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing
  • 5 Year Warranty and unparalleled EVGA Customer Support
  • Heavy-duty protections, including OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), SCP (Short Circuit Protection), and OTP (Over Temperature Protection)

'Tier 2' PSU which means 'good enough' for many of us, I suspect a lot of people are using basic or generics in 5/6 for some builds

Also, I discovered just now, it is ONE per customer. I wanted to keep a spare at this price but apparently Amazon know they are onto a good thing.

As others pointed out and I found out on my first order, you can use Amazon Assistant deal for £5 off (as it's sold by Amazon) and you should also be able to get a further £3 off with Vouchercodes deal.

Thanks - yes I literally paid £120 for this used from Amazon Warehouse last week for this and thought that was ok. Best price before this was £105 for a day on Camelcamelcamel in March.

Tempted to buy another as a spare as it’s such a good price and with so much spare capacity also very versatile.
might as well combine it with this offer for £3.00 amazon voucher

I did that and Amazon Assistant deal too (for another £5) as it’s actually sold by Amazon too which was a surprise too as that was getting hard to find (as opposed to FBA).
Don't like the reviews I'm reading on this one, plus evga's customer services are slipping recently, however 1kw gold PSU for £90 on Amazon? Bought.

They don’t stack as such. Amazon Assistant comes off at checkout and the Vouchercodes offer is a receipt upload - the receipt doesn’t mention a promo, it acts like a gift card payment so I assume it’s fine.

Yes, that’s my go-to place too. If he says it’s good enough then it’s good enough for me! 10/10 for build quality! G2 is much more over here in UK and so is Corsair RM so you can dis-count his comments about the cost there.

My worry is that it's from 2015. Plus people reviews on Amazon say they received faulty units or ones that broke down quickly. However Amazon returns is easy so I'll give it a go at this price.

I used one of these for bitcoin mining in a rig with 4 x R9 290x back in 2013.

I'm still using it today in my server chassis. These PSUs are excellent.

That's the problem though but even things like Corsair AX/HX and Seasonics have a mix of good and bad reviews. They do mix up the wattages too in the reviews, that always bugged me.

I think the peace of mind comes from the warranty and buying from Amazon , free returns etc .

I have quite a few rigs setup running 24/7 , 2 of them run 6 year old 650 watt EVGA PSU's no issues they never let me down , they just keep on chugging away .

I have 2 x Corsair 1000w PSU's they have been brilliant and also my 1 x 850w Corsair.

Mining 'rigs'? We build them for clients using Corsair RM and HX normally. No failures other than some early desktops running Corsair CX, even the VS systems are fine so far (touch wood).
I paid £75 for a EVGA 650w 80+ Gold about 5 years ago. This thing is solid, never had any problems. EVGA are one of the top 3-4 brands you can buy for PSUs, its never worth going cheap for them. This deal is hot.

Yeah the top end high wattage units have come down in price a lot and buying cheap is a false economy. A quality PSU will likely last you this build and the next 2-3! I've had Corsairs under full load (in client builds) and I sometimes remote into the control panels and they're still outputting stable voltages and quiet. This will be the first time I'm using EVGA but I've heard such good things and reviews, the next cheapest Corsair RM1000x is usually £140+ with the HX nearer £200.

I've got the EVGA GQ 750w and was very impressed with the quality using it for 24/7 mining. I paid about £70 for it and would be tempted to get this one too if there were some GPUs at reasonable prices.

We use similar for mining machines for clients - I think there are GPUs available still like the RX series coming to a reasonable price again. I miss the days when I had just 12 GPUs as a test platform (only lowly and hot R9 290s, one per machine with low-tier PSUs) and was mining like 5 ETH a month, now you need like 5 times as much compute power just to match it!
This is a BARGAIN !!!! Best VFM in this 1000 watt psu bracket, going buy cost.
I have a 800+ watt Corsair psu, had it for 3 years.. it's running a ryzen 1700, Vega 64, gtx 970 + 650ti boost.. it's not even 85% taxed is the psu.

Yes I do mine on the nvidia cards 24/7...

And not the Vega 64?! Who you trying to kid!
1000w is O.K

I don't mine on the vega 64 as it gobbles a lot of the power.. not to mention sounds like a jet fighter on afterburner !!! Vega 64 will mine ether at 48 mh and stay at 61c with fans @ 3200 rpm.

Vega is a known Cryptonight monster, it’ll do XMR at over twice the rate of anything else at about 2KH/s, but yes definitely noisy things.
You simply can't go wrong for this price. I don't currently need another 1000w PSU, but couldn't resist picking this up. Now, what to build with it?
Looks like I missed it, no longer advertised at this price!

Yeah looks like it. Maybe it'll come back as Amazon isn't a listed seller. Next is twice the price now

That's 'slap a label on the manufacturer box and leave exposed'. Got a rather handy crushed GPU delivered that way.
