Where's all the people that were saying the BQ is crap from the other thread?

Cheers OP. Ordered! This has great review and can only be better than my Integrator 500w psu I got with my pc and it's a nice price.

I'm planning a pc build at the moment, looking in the range of AMD rx 480 gpu, Intel i5 6400 etc. Basically a reasonably future proof 1080p machine. I don't need a power supply with this much power right? Around 500W should do by my calculation, please tell me if I'm wrong though

I'd get this for the fact a 500w can be enoigu but for a decent 500w you might be looking at same price or more. I've gone for this since a 1070 minimum requirement is 500w that's why I have and it's on offer at a great price

Stick your components into PCPartPicker and it'll give you an estimated wattage. I'd be surprised if that hits 500W, however 850W for £55 on a semi-modular PSU from a known brand is a pretty good buy.

You're probably not going to find much else better for a similar price to be honest

Yeah I put the build into pcpartpicker and got a power of just over 300W, but you need a margin of safety right? 500W is overkill yeah but maybe 400/450?

400/450 should be fine, but again, you'll probably find a 400-500W PSU for £53 so why not go all in on a 850W

only 5 year warranty?
My supernova g2 gold one came with a 10 year warranty.

great price
iffy on the 80 plus bronze but can't complain at 53 especially for semi modular
smoking hot

That's a G2, Gold rated and probably costs twice as much.

850 is overkill unless you have SLI 1080's and a overclocked i7. Cold

Cold what? Surely you didn't vote this cold because it doesn't suit your needs.

850w psu for £50 is a bargain and its a great psu too.
better than the crappy corsair for around this price point.

It's an OK PSU, not fantastic. Gets near silver efficiency, but doesn't have great voltage regulation.
See jonnyguru.com/mod…490 for full review of similar model.
Great for cheaper to mid builds, not so good for mid to high end.

Because the equivalent ~500W PSU will be more efficient than the 850W one in most cases. No point in getting more than you need unless you want to leave room for an additional GPU later.

I have the G2 Gold rating 850w, is that good? Or should I get a different model? I paid £100

Dont just look at the wattage, some of these PSU's still arent built for a performance build, EVGA still do some of the best PSU's in the business but do some research and pick a reliable model that can take the punishment and support the potential for overclocking if you need it , the EVGA G2 Supernova for example is the top end and widely regarded as the best in the business, but you wont need that.. The corsair VS series is a robust enough PSU to support your current build without hurting the bank.

Yes it depends on your circumstanc as well. For me, I got this because I have a 500w integrator which isn't very good. I run a EVGA GTX 1070 SC and AMD FX 8350 and the integrator isn't good enough. Also this gives room for upgrades and it's discounted to a very cheap price.
