Cheapest price it's ever been

It's tempting for me but I'm going to hold out until Monday for the Vega release until I upgrade from my 290x so posting it in case others are interested and are desperate for an upgrade. If I was in bad need of a new GPU I would probably go for this

  • 08G-P4-6188-KR

  • Core Clock: 1708MHz

  • Boost Clock: 1847MHz

  • Memory: 8192MB 10000MHz GDDR5X

  • Stream Processors: 2560

  • SLI Ready

  • VR Ready

  • PhysX/CUDA Enabled

  • 3 Years Warranty.

Decent review for the card - overclockers.com/evg…ew/

Yes it's still expensive but we're in a horrible time for buying GPU's thanks to the mining craze artificially inflating the prices of mid range cards and keeping the high end cards at a semi static price

I'm not really planning on buying a Vega, I just want to see what they're like and hoping they're good enough and cost effective enough to bring the price of the 1080 Ti's down. Failing that it's a wait for Navi and Volta It's not really a good time to be buying a GPU unless you absolutely have to buy one due to mining craze and current gen close to being last gen and the cards still aren't really capable of 4k 144hz which hopefully the next gen will address

Wonder if vega will be a bit of a damp squib for gamers compared to the hype, like ryzen was on launch.
I just want to see a £200 1070.

Like Ryzen was? Don't be silly.

Apparently the new Vega has been described as making miners moist

Me too, that should've been the price all along. The 1060 should've been £150.

Was for gamers. AMD shills made out you were getting something that would batter an i7 for i3 money. Think they were a bit embarrassed. It's a good value line, just not dominating in the same way the original athlon was.

You are embarrassing yourself by having no idea what you are talking about.

Guess you weren't old enough to remember the athlon k7. Came from out of no where, no hype or fan fare, just pure performance and battered the pentium III in every benchmark. That's what AMD led us believe with ryzen, and in some situations it is a massive improvement, just not so much in gaming. Read up about it and educate yourself.
