A little more expensive than it was recently but this is still the cheapest price around for this card by far.

Considering today's launch for the 1070 has gone so horribly as well, a 1080 purchase might not be as bad value as people originally thought.

You're not the only one mate. At £400 minimum for a 1070, they must think we're idiots.
Supply and demand at it's simplest. If everyone stopped paying the over the odds the pricing would drop.

Not what you want to hear but all we can do is simply not buy them. Prices will eventually drop. I know... I was tempted by the 1070... Not anymore.

It would be nice if that happened but I don't think its going to be all that likely unfortunately.
Damn... this used to be £580.99 at Amazon. I was crossing my fingers that that would be their standard price until I can afford one.

Yeah no doubt, i remember getting my 970 for a good price on launch week and since then they have gone up in price by about £20-30 and have yet to come down still. THE LOGIC IS REAL
You have to remember that 400 for the 1070 is the founders edition and seen as 3rd party 1080s are nearly £100 cheaper that the founders edition we should see some 3rd party 1070s for around £330 very soon. I know this doesn't help with the fact the currency conversion rate is a joke but it is what it is they ain't gunna change it

There is only one custom 1080 that comes anywhere near close to being that much cheaper than the FE and that is the clown card.

These prices are here to stay, at least for the next few months anyway.

Is it? I hadn't seen that one tbh. And to answer your question, not a thing IMHO.

Don't forget that the profit margins are likely to be lower on this card than they are on the 1080 though.

A flatpack style GPU with soldering iron and PCB. Could reduce the price substantially.
If you want smooth gaming then buy Nvidia and pay more/through the nose *or* if you want "driver not responding", and black screens galore, then buy "**** class" AMD.

I haven't had a black screen or BSOD for the longest time with AMD. Maybe with some earlier releases of Windows 10 but it's rather stable now. They are releasing drivers much more frequently which to some is a good thing. I was still going to buy a 1070

I'd be up for that. Homebrew PCB projects are always fun.

The next generation of GPU's should come from IKEA.

Thanks but my G1 1080 pre order only cost £525.

That EVGA SC edition was actually the card that I wanted in the first place though.
Think I'll wait for gigabyte to release their xtreme edition before making a decision.
RX 480 in SLi at £150 per card apparently outperforms the GTX 1080 by a decent amount. I'd look into that to be honest:)

dont start off trying to big up an amd card by say in SLI which is nvidia only lol and amd cards are bad enough with the poor drivers without even going into how bad crossfire support is. single card is ALWAYS the better option over SLI or crossfire

But the problem for AMD is that is exactly what has happened again and again for various generation of GPUs: people wait for AMD to launch a part and offer some competition to Nvidia and then... buy Nvidia.
You can see how that doesn't actually help AMD. Or often it doesn't actually help the person buying the now cheaper Nvidia card. For instance take something like the GTX960 vs R9-380: the Radeon has more powerful, aged better but still sold far worse. Ditto 670 vs 7950, 580 vs 6950 (well, that was mainly because most GTX 580s were 1.5GB).

That's because there is no point making a card that physically has more power than the nvidia but then giving it crap drivers and support. Nvidia has been leading the market for years now for this exact reason

Nvidia have been thinking this for years!
Nvidia prices and Gsync tax have put me off them for my new system. I'm going to pay 50% more for a gfx card + monitor, for the same spec? Noooooo, I don't think so. All we need now is a freesync 3440 x 1440 ultrawide at 100hz+.

If the RX480 actually retails for the £160-£170 it should be in the UK them I think AMD may be back in the game. I'll buy one, play the old games I haven't got round to yet, then flog it for £100 at christmas if I need more power.
